The Senator’s Daughter Is Now the CEO They Need Chapter 08

The slap knocked my head to the side, and the metallic taste of blood filled my mouth.

I pressed my lips together but still asked the question.

“What did I do wrong?”

That only made my father angrier.

He grabbed a Cuban cigar box from the entryway table and hurled it to the floor.

The mahogany box shattered, sending splinters skittering past my ankle.

“You still have the nerve to ask?” he boomed. “You’re still going to play innocent?”

I lifted my eyes and scanned the living room.

The corner of Olivia’s mouth was turned up in a slight smile. Her expression was one of concern, but the delight in her eyes was unmistakable.

Julian leaned against the doorframe, not bothering to hide his satisfaction.

“Father,” he said, “surely you know what kind of person Chloe is by now. She never admits when she’s wrong. If you ask me, someone like her shouldn’t be living in this house at all.”

Seeing my father’s face darken, Olivia immediately walked over, feigning sympathy.

“Father, please don’t be so angry. Chloe probably just doesn’t understand our family’s rules. After all, she—”

She stopped.

Julian froze, too.

Because I spoke first.

“Yes, Father,” I said calmly. “I was wrong.”

The living room went silent.
