The Secret in My Husband’s Sofa Chapter 07

The Secret in My Husband’s Sofa Chapter 07 Turning On Each Other

I watched the two of them flounder in front of the court, my voice cold. “If they hadn’t been bold enough to carry on in broad daylight, I’d never have evidence this clear-cut.”

The gallery erupted into chaos, the wave of chatter loud enough to rattle the roof.

“You really never know a person. These two cheating scumbags have no shame!”

“Olivia got the worst of it. The people right next to her were plotting all along!”

“No wonder she pushed so hard for a divorce. Who could stand a betrayal like this?”

I held up a hand for silence, my eyes sweeping over Adrian’s ashen face.

I pointed at the couch schematic on the screen. “The base of that couch was hollowed out. There’s a hidden compartment built into it, just big enough to fit a grown woman.”

My lawyer immediately dialed a video call, and the screen switched to a feed of my living

room.

In the feed, a technician was demonstrating how the couch worked.

All it took was pressing a hidden latch on the armrest. The base slid out slowly, revealing a compartment nearly four feet deep.

A medium-built woman climbed easily inside. Once the base closed, there wasn’t a single hint anyone was hidden in there.

“That’s just the first piece of evidence.” I gestured for my lawyer to bring up the second video, and the screen filled with the face of the furniture store owner.

“Sir, do you remember who custom-ordered this couch?” my lawyer asked.

The store owner nodded vigorously.

“Yes, I remember! Last fall, a couple came in for a custom order. They asked for a hidden compartment in the couch and paid double the deposit. I thought it was odd, but they paid well and claimed a special purpose, so I went ahead.”

I took the phone and pointed the camera at Adrian and Vivian.

I asked, “Sir, take a look. Is it these two?”

The store owner squinted, took a moment to study the screen, then said firmly. “Yes! That’s them! The woman stayed glued to the man’s side, and they made me promise to never mention this to anyone.”

Before he could finish, Vivian threw herself at me like a madwoman. “You’re lying! This is slander!”

She lunged for the phone, but I sidestepped her, and she went stumbling to the floor.

By this point, there was no way to walk it back.

Charles and Hazel stared at their son with eyes full of bitter disappointment. Adrian couldn’t take it.

He shrieked suddenly, jabbed a finger right at Vivian, and let loose. “It was her! She put me up to all of it!

“She told me Olivia wasn’t as young as her after the birth! She said Olivia didn’t know how to take care of me, and she was the one throwing herself at me every day! She was the one seducing me the whole time!”

Watching her lover throw her under the bus, Vivian scrambled up and fired back. “Adrian, that’s bullshit! You’re the one who paid me to be with you! You said Olivia couldn’t satisfy you, and you’d been wanting a divorce for ages!”

The two of them tore into each other like rabid dogs, spitting out details of their affair too ugly

to repeat.

Adrian kicked Vivian to the floor and threw himself at me, crying. “Olivia, I was wrong! I was so wrong! Please forgive me, just this once!”

He grabbed the leg of my pants, eyes brimming with tears. “We still have our child! He’s your own flesh and blood. For his sake, give me one more chance.”

“The child?” I jerked my leg out of his grip, my voice cold as ice.

“You still have the nerve to bring up our child?”
