The Secret in My Husband’s Sofa Chapter 06

The Secret in My Husband’s Sofa Chapter 06 The Second Tape

None of those accusations stirred a single ripple inside me.

I’d been holding everything in for so many days just for this moment.

My voice came out steady as my gaze swept over Adrian and Vivian, who both looked pleased with themselves. “Your Honor, please allow me to play the next video.”

At the judge’s nod, my lawyer worked the equipment immediately, and the big screen switched to a view of the living room at night.

Moonlight spilled through the gap in the curtains, faintly outlining the shape of the couch.

Without warning, the back of the couch began to lift open.

Every face in the courtroom went blank with confusion.

Someone in the crowd snorted. “What in the world is that? Are we supposed to be wowed by a fancy couch?”

“Wait, that couch does that? Stashing blankets in it is convenient, sure, but what’s the point of showing us this now?”

“Hold on, the way that couch opens up looks way too big to be normal storage.”

By this point, Vivian’s expression had finally cracked, panic creeping in.

Adrian’s face had gone bone-white, too.

But I gave them no chance to catch their breath. The video kept playing.

On the screen, a shadowy figure climbed out of the couch.

In the dim light, only a female silhouette was visible.

She walked straight up to Adrian, curled on the couch, and slipped into his arms.

The two of them started making out, and then they fucked right there on the couch.

Just before dawn, the woman slipped quietly back into the hidden compartment of the couch.

My lawyer played several more clips in a row, each one showing the same scene.

Every single night, a woman crawled out of the couch and lay with Adrian.

The courtroom plunged into dead silence. Everyone in the room looked stunned.

A few seconds later, the chatter exploded across the room.

“Holy shit! Is someone actually hiding in the couch? That’s beyond messed up! No wonder he refused the bedroom and parked himself on the living room couch every night. This was the reason all along!”

“Oh my god! I just said he was a good man, and now I’m eating my words. He hid another woman in his own house. If his wife had walked in, someone would’ve ended up dead!”

“Olivia’s the real victim here! Her own home turned into someone else’s love nest. No wonder she pushed so hard for a divorce. She must’ve known. Who could stand that kind of betrayal?”

Sympathetic eyes turned my way, and everyone who’d been tearing me apart now looked ashamed.

Adrian shot to his feet and started waving his hands frantically. “That’s not what happened! It’s not like that. Don’t listen to her nonsense!”

Watching the crowd’s anger swing toward Adrian, Vivian leapt up to shield him, jabbing a finger at me. “How do we know that shadow in the video isn’t you, Olivia? Don’t pull that crap, none of us are buying it.”

Her gaze flickered, but she forced herself to stay calm.

“Adrian wouldn’t share a room with you because he cared about you. You’ve been bitter about it. So you cooked up this scheme. You hid in the couch yourself, faked all this, and recorded it to smear him so your divorce would look justified!”

Plenty of people in the room looked uncertain at her words.

“Yeah, the figure in the video is a dark shadow. You can’t even see a face. Maybe she really did stage the whole thing.”

“She brings out a blurry video like that. How do we know it wasn’t faked on purpose?”

“Right. What if she’d been planning the divorce all along and set this trap to corner Mr. Donovan?”

The accusations started up again, the crowd’s anger swinging back at me.

Adrian watched the crowd’s resolve waver. A faint, almost imperceptible smile tugged at his

lips, smugness all over his face.

He likely believed the dim footage would never expose what had happened.

I let out a cold laugh and tipped my chin at my lawyer. “Play the next video.”

The screen abruptly switched to a daytime view of the living room.

Sunlight poured through the window, lighting every corner. The couch was fully open, exposing the storage space inside.

At that moment, a woman climbed out of the couch. She wore the same dark coat as the nighttime shadow, her hair slightly disheveled.

She walked straight up to Adrian, casually slipping her arm around his shoulders. They whispered to each other, then exchanged smiles, all easy intimacy.

The screen showed everything in crystal-clear detail. Vivian’s face was unmistakable in the sunlight.

Silence fell over the courtroom so thick you could hear people breathing.

A few seconds later, someone sucked in a sharp breath, and a tidal wave of chatter broke loose.

“It’s her! Adrian’s assistant, Vivian! No wonder she kept defending him. This is what it was all

about!”

“What kind of assistant pulls a stunt like this? Hooking up with her boss like that!”

“These two have been hooking up for who knows how long, and they had the nerve to smear Olivia!”

Toward the back of the room, someone got so worked up that they tried to charge forward and had to be held back by the people nearby.

Adrian’s smile froze on his face. His skin went paper-white in a heartbeat.

Vivian shuddered head to toe, her legs buckling so hard she nearly hit the floor.
