The Ring Was Not For Me Chapter 09

Just then, the elevator doors opened. 1

forehead,

my mother’s eyes immediately reddened as she rushed over to hug me. “My darling, who did this to you?”

My father and mother stepped out. Seeing the bandage on my

My father stood before me, stared at the bruised and swollen Ricardo, and without a word, raised his hand and slapped him. The loud crack echoed down the hallway.

“You’re Ricardo? Who gave you the right to humiliate the heiress of the Ainsworth family?”

Ricardo clutched his swollen face, looking at the man before him in disbelief.

He was about to join a subsidiary of Ainsworth Global and had naturally researched its top executives.

Including my father, the chairman of Ainsworth Global.

“You’re from the Ainsworth family? How can you be Tiffany’s father? Didn’t Tiffany say she was just from a middle-class family?”

He looked at me, his eyes filled with disbelief.

Mrs. Miller was paralyzed on the floor, having forgotten even to cry. Sarah was ashen-faced, completely speechless.

I looked at Ricardo and said coldly, “I told you, Ricardo. Anything Sarah could give you, I could give you more.”

Sarah, unwilling to be defeated, started to laugh.

“I can give him a child! Can you?!”

I shook my head.

Sarah stared at me with her swollen face, a defiant smirk playing on her lips.

But in the next second,

I said, “I won’t be having his child.”

“There’s one more thing you should know, Ricardo.”

“A year ago, I received treatment in Switzerland. My hands have made a full recovery. If I want to, I can have a child with anyone. But that person will never be you.”

Ricardo’s face went white.

“Tiffany, forgive me, I truly know I was wrong!”

Even Mrs. Miller started to curry favor.

“Dear Tiffany, it was my fault. Ricardo only did this stupid thing because of what I said. You two live a good life together from now on. I promise I won’t

interfere!”

The triumphant look on Sarah’s face froze instantly, and she slumped back to the floor as if her bones had been removed.

I ignored them and turned to my father, telling him everything about how Sarah’s uncle had used his position, colluding with Sarah’s father to skim profits from projects at the Ainsworth subsidiary.

My father’s face turned iron-dark as he listened. He immediately called the group’s legal department, ordered Sarah’s uncle to be suspended, and demanded a full audit of the project’s accounts.

After hanging up, my father looked at Ricardo, his voice as cold as ice.

“You didn’t get that internship because you were skilled enough. You got it because Tiffany has a soft heart. She begged me, saying you were her boyfriend and needed a chance to prove yourself after graduation. That’s the only reason I relented.”

“It seems we have no place for an ungrateful parasite like you at Ainsworth.”

With that, he had someone notify Human Resources to permanently revoke

Ricardo and Sarah’s job offers.

Only then did it dawn on Ricardo that the opportunity he had been so proud of was one I had begged for. All his previous insults and contempt for me had become slaps across his own face.

He looked at me, his eyes full of regret, and tried to get up to say something more, but Julian was already helping me toward the elevator.

“Let’s go, Tiffany. No need to look at this trash.”

I followed Julian into the elevator. The doors slowly closed, shutting out Ricardo’s regret in the hallway.

A week later, my wound had healed, and Julian took me for wedding photos.

My mother sighed. “Tiffany is finally marrying her Julian, just as she always

wanted.”

I was a little confused.

When had I ever met Julian?

“It’s no wonder. You had a terrible fever when you were little and lost all your memories from before you were eight.”

My mother explained earnestly, “Our Ainsworth estate and the Blackwood estate used to be neighbors. Julian was a quiet child, and you were always very talkative.”

“Our two families thought it would be a good idea to let you two spend time together, so you could balance each other out. And it was a good thing we did, because that’s how we found out Julian was being bullied by his extended family.”

“Thankfully, you were there to protect him.”

“Later, our whole family moved to Europe. You had that high fever and forgot everything.”

I looked at Julian, and some memories slowly started to return.

Julian squeezed my hand tightly.

“I’m so glad I found you again.”

I’m glad.

You’re still mine.

After that, Ricardo tried to contact me many times but was always chased away by Julian’s bodyguards.

The next time I heard about them was in an alumni group chat. He and Sarah had divorced. Sarah had taken their son and married Ricardo’s cousin.

Later, she became a victim of domestic abuse; her new husband broke her leg and was imprisoned for it.

As for Ricardo, he ended up in a remote small town, working at a gas station. He hadn’t been back to see Mrs. Miller in a long time.

I closed my phone and quietly left all the alumni groups.

I never wanted to hear about them again.

(The End)
