The Rebirth Of A PTSD And Betrayed Luna Chapter 09

[Hannah’s POV]

Donald hesitated for a long beat before slowly releasing my shoulders. “If I dissolve my mating bond with Wanda, will you forgive me?”

I said nothing, spinning on my heel to walk away.

He still failed to grasp the truth: even if he were completely unattached to Wanda now, I would never turn back to him.

Shortly after Donald left, my parents showed up at my apartment building. They lingered outside my door for ten full minutes before I unlocked it.

The instant the door creaked open, Mom threw herself into my arms, sobbing uncontrollably. “Hannah, come home with us. We’ll never stop you from pursuing anything you want ever again…”

Dad echoed her plea beside her. “We’ve been sick with worry. We hate the thought of you living alone in an unfamiliar pack far away.”

I unwound her arms from around me, firm but not cruel. “When you stood on that press conference stage, broadcasting my private medical records to the world and labeling me delusional—did you spare a single thought that I was your daughter?”

Their faces drained of all color the second the question left my mouth. Mom dissolved into fresh tears. “I’m sorry, Hannah, I’m so, so sorry…”

Dad reached out to grab my wrist, and I slammed the door shut

between us without hesitation.

I slipped noise-canceling headphones over my ears, sat down at my laptop, and returned to drafting border defense protocols. A single tear traced my jawline—not in grief, but in release.

From this day forward, I had no family home to return to. And they no longer had a daughter.

Half a year later, our new elite border defense squad was fully assembled. I consolidated all my years of battlefield experience, collaborating closely with Darkmoon’s Alpha to finalize a comprehensive border patrol framework, forging a resilient defense network that would hold against any threat.

This time, my name stood alone at the top of the file, marked Lead Commander.

Meanwhile, the public drama surrounding Donald and Wanda’s mating bond dissolution sparked widespread chaos across all packs.

Wanda refused to surrender custody of Leo to the Vex clan, filing a formal lawsuit with the council of elders. Their bitter dispute dragged on for nearly six months.

In the end, the elder council ruled Leo would be raised by the Vex family bloodline. Wanda lost her official title as Luna, stripped of nearly all resources and privileges granted to an Alpha’s mate.

My parents never once stepped forward to offer her support, not even a single word of comfort.

I heard Wanda had camped outside my apartment multiple times, crying for hours on end, yet no one opened the door for her.

Later that night, my phone rang—Wanda’s name flashed across the screen. “Hannah, please, you have to help me. I can’t bear to be separated from my pup. Beg Donald to let me stay with Leo.”

Her words fractured through ragged sobs.

“I’m sorry, I was wrong. I threw myself at him, shamelessly seduced him—everything is my fault, I’m so sorry…”

I listened to her broken pleas in quiet detachment. “Finished crying? If so, I’m hanging up.”

“Hannah, grant me just one favor, I beg you—”

“No.”

I ended the call and blocked her number entirely.

The border defense strategy I’d written was officially adopted by the Alpha King, rolled out to every pack’s border outposts across the realm. For this work, I was awarded the Border Distinguished Service Medal.

On the day of the award ceremony, I walked onto the stage to thunderous applause from every wolf in attendance.

As the Alpha King placed the medal into my palm, he leaned in and spoke softly: “This honor was three years too late.”

I smiled and thanked him, gripping the medal tight in my hand.

It weighed almost nothing physically, yet it felt impossibly heavy resting against my skin. No one could ever again steal what I’d earned with my own blood and grit.

Once the ceremony concluded, Donald crossed the crowd to approach me. His lips parted as if he had a thousand things to say, yet all that came out was a quiet, hollow “Congratulations.”

I pretended not to notice him, stepping forward to leave.

He shot out a hand to catch my arm, yanking me back to face him. “I’ve fully dissolved my mating bond with Wanda. Can you give me one more chance—let us—”

“The answer is no.” I cut him off without a moment’s hesitation. “Donald, stop wasting your energy. We are done for good.”

I pulled my arm free of his grasp and walked away without a single backward glance.

Donald did not chase after me. He sank to the ground, covering his face with both hands, his frame collapsed inward, breath hitching in a silence louder than any cry.

My phone flooded with hundreds of new messages, all filled with congratulations on my medal.

A single text from Mom popped up at the bottom of the screen: [Hannah, we’re endlessly proud of your achievement. We will wait for you to come home, always.]

I deleted the message without replying, clutching my medal and the bouquet of roses given to honorees as I strode forward.

I no longer needed anyone’s approval, anyone’s support to stand tall.

From now on, I would live life entirely on my own terms.
