The Rebirth Of A PTSD And Betrayed Luna Chapter 02

[Hannah’s POV]

I touched my stinging cheek, staring at her in stunned disbelief.

“You thought you could handle everything alone, didn’t you? Insisted on rushing off to the border. Why even bother coming back?”

I drew a shaky breath. “Did you know Donald mated Wanda and had a pup with her?”

My mother’s expression stayed unnervingly calm. “Of course I knew. The Vex and Lupin families jointly held their mating ceremony.”

“What?” My eyes went wide, shock sharpening my tone. “I’m Donald’s true mate, your daughter—how could you all stand by and let this happen?”

“You have no right to act outraged!” My father stormed into the room, his face dark with rage. “We all begged you not to deploy to the border! You had a perfect life here, yet you ran off to the most dangerous stretch of territory anyway.”

“When you went missing two years ago, the entire Ironclaw Pack mourned you as dead. Your mother cried day in and day out in this house. You never sent word that you were alive, and now you march back in here to accuse us?”

I opened my mouth to explain, only for Donald and Wanda to step through the door with their pup in tow.

Wanda smiled sweetly and greeted my parents. “Mom, Dad.”

My mother hurried over to welcome her, grinning. “Welcome home, my sweet girl!”

She lifted the small pup into her arms, cooing softly. “Leo, are you hungry? I’ll fix you something delicious right away…”

Sweet girl.

I stood frozen, as though a wolf’s claw had torn straight through my heart.

Wanda glanced over at me, forcing an awkward smile. “Hannah, welcome home.”

“Don’t speak to me. I never considered you a friend. You stole my mate and my family. Are you proud of yourself?”

My mother whirled around, her eyes blazing as she shouted at me. “Quit spreading these awful lies! Do you want to ruin everything for everyone?”

“We took Wanda in when she was a cub. She’s far more obedient and grateful than you’ll ever be. She’s the one who’s tended to your father and me all these years, unlike you, who only ever cared about your own reckless whims.”

I turned toward Donald, and he avoided my gaze, guilt etched across his features.

When I first volunteered for border duty, every single family member fought to stop me. Only Donald stepped up, using his Alpha authority to shield me from all their pushback.

On the day I left, we clung to each other at the airfield for ages.

He pressed a gentle kiss to my forehead. “Follow whatever path you want, Hannah. I’ll always stand behind you.”

Now, faced with my parents’ unfair accusations, he said nothing in my defense.

Wanda stepped forward to defuse the tension. “Let’s not fight. We’ve waited so long for Hannah to return—let’s all sit down for dinner together.”

At the dining table, they huddled close side by side. I was relegated to the far corner, not even a plate or silverware set out for me.

My mother piled food onto Wanda’s plate, fretting over whether she’d eat enough. My father doted on the pup nonstop, slipping a bank card into the little cub’s paw. I sat there like a total stranger trespassing on another pack’s territory.

I slowly pushed my chair back and spoke quietly. “I think I’ll head out.”

No one glanced up; their full attention remained fixed on the pup.

Stepping outside, the mountain air cut through my bones, sending violent shivers down my spine.

Suddenly, I remembered my official border deployment records. I sprinted back to my home and dug out my work laptop. The hard drive held years of patrol footage and every combat log I’d filed out on the border.

I logged into my work account to submit the files to pack headquarters, only to find my credentials had been permanently deactivated.

Early the next morning, I headed for the council hall.

A Gamma wolf stationed at the front gate blocked my path. “No entry without active clearance.”

“My name is Hannah Lupin. I’m the combat warrior the Alpha approved for border deployment. I’m here to request reinstatement to my post.”

The Gamma pulled up my name on his terminal, his jaw dropping in shock. “Hannah… this file’s been marked terminated. All your former duties were reassigned to another she-wolf ages ago.”

“Reassigned to who?”

The Gamma let out a small, admiring laugh. “Our pack’s Luna. She’s the youngest high-ranking combat warrior we’ve got, and she recently received a medal from the Alpha King.”
