The Rebirth Of A PTSD And Betrayed Luna Chapter 01

[Hannah’s POV]

Three years into my border deployment for the pack’s remote territory, a rogue wolf pack ambushed me. An explosion stole all my memories.

I developed severe PTSD and spent the next two years in the werewolf psychiatric rehabilitation facility out there.

It wasn’t until two months ago that every fragment of my past came rushing back.

The day I flew home to the pack’s central compound, my best friend, Wanda Lockwood, and my Alpha mate, Donald Vex, met me at the airfield.

Wanda’s eyes were red and swollen from crying.

Donald spoke in a shaky voice, yet his tone remained characteristically soft. “Move into the new residence first. I’ll wrap up a few pack related issues and come stay with you tonight.”

Instead, I drove straight back to our old pack house alone.

The second I pushed the door open, my gaze locked onto the framed mating ceremony photo hanging above the fireplace. Standing beside Donald in that picture wasn’t me—it was Wanda.

Right then, the Alpha who’d claimed he was swamped with council work walked in hand-in-hand with my supposed best friend. He held a tiny wolf pup tucked against his chest.

I froze, my breath catching in my throat.

We’d only been separated for two years. How was their pup already nearly three years old?

Wanda’s smile dropped off her face in an instant. Donald jolted like he’d touched live wire and pulled his hand away from hers.

He set the pup down into Wanda’s arms, panic edging into his voice. “Hannah? What are you doing here?”

I stared them both down, saying nothing.

Wanda’s eyes welled up instantly. “Hannah, it’s not what you think—”

“Then what exactly is it?” My fingers trembled as I pointed at their framed photograph above the hearth. “Donald, why wasn’t I invited to your mating ceremony with Wanda?”

Donald stepped forward, ready to pull me into his arms, then froze mid-movement. “It’s complicated. Every pack member believed you’d died back then, so we—”

I cut him off sharply. “I only vanished for two years, yet your child’s already three. You two were together long before anyone thought I was gone, weren’t you?”

I could have accepted Donald choosing a new mate after grieving my supposed death. What I couldn’t stomach was his betrayal—worst of all, with my closest friend.

Wanda sobbed nonstop, repeating hollow apologies the whole time. Donald never uttered a single word in my defense.

My gaze swept across the wall lined with their family portraits. Wanda curled into Donald’s chest, the pup safe in her lap, grinning happily for the camera. Her smile sliced into me like a blade.

The suffocating silence stretched on until Donald finally broke it. “Hannah, leave the past where it belongs. We’re all relieved you’re alive and home.”

“How am I supposed to move on? I went from the rightful Luna of the Ironclaw Pack to a homewrecker.”

The pup whimpered and burst into tears at my words.

Donald shot a sharp glare at the child, his brows slamming together. “I’m sorry, Hannah, but Wanda and our pup are innocent. Don’t make a scene here.”

This pack house was filled with every memory we’d built together, and now it belonged to another she-wolf—and he wanted me gone.

“I’m not leaving! This is my home!”

Donald grabbed my wrist roughly and dragged me out onto the front steps. “Calm down! We’ll sort all this out tomorrow—stop scaring the kid.”

The front door slammed shut hard enough to rattle the walls. Moments later, warm laughter drifted out from inside the pack house.

They looked like a perfect little family, and I was cast as the unhinged she-wolf throwing a pointless fit.

A high-pitched ringing erupted in my ears, dragging me straight back to the border battlefield two years prior. Explosions boomed nonstop all around me. Shrapnel embedded itself deep in my flesh, the agony robbing me of any ability to speak.

When I woke afterward, I couldn’t recall a single thing about who I was. But my inner wolf screamed one unshakable truth: I had to survive, because someone was waiting for me to come home.

I clung to that instinct, hauling myself back from complete breakdown time and time again. I took every prescribed medication without fail, showed up to every therapy session fully committed.

Eventually, all my memories resurfaced.

Ignoring my healer’s urgent warnings, I dragged my scarred, fragile body onto a multi-hour flight back to the compound.

I never imagined this cruel welcome would be waiting for me.

I sank down on the doorstep and cried until my throat ached raw.

Once I’d wiped every tear away, I stood, climbed behind the wheel, and drove straight to the Lupin family manor.

My mother sat reading on the living room sofa when I arrived. The second I spotted her, fresh tears spilled down my cheeks.

I threw myself into her embrace, voice cracking. “Mom, I’m home.”

Before I could say another word, she shoved me away hard. A sharp slap cracked across my cheek a heartbeat later.

“Hannah Lupin! How dare you show your face here?”
