The Princess Who Left the Alpha Family Chapter 05

Mom was awake now. “Yes. Home. We need to go home. She’ll be there.

Dad grunted. “Ungrateful brat. Just wait until I get my hands on her.”

“Don’t. Please. She’s hurting. This was our fault. We knew how much she loved Kellan. We should’ve told her sooner.”

“And look at her leg. She’s been through enough.”

“She brought that on herself. Pulling a pathetic stunt to wreck Calyra’s ceremony. She can suffer.”

They drove home.

Beatrice met them at the door. Tears. Dramatics.

“Alpha! Luna! Oh, thank the goddess you’re back. That Veyra girl, she’s lost her damn mind. She set the house on fire.

Attacked me. Look at this place!*

“Look at this place! Ruined!”

Dad took in the scorched walls. Smashed furniture.

His roar shook the house. “Veyra! Get down here! Now!”

“Alpha, she never came back. She set the place on fire and took off. We couldn’t stop her.”

“She went completely feral. Swinging at anyone who got close. Trying to take our heads off. I barely got out of the way.

Nearly cracked my skull.”

Calyra shrank into Kellan. “She’s insane. She tried to burn the servants alive.”

‘I can’t live under the same roof as her.”

Kellan held her. “If they won’t send her away, we’re moving out.”

Lucien was pacing. “She’s lost her damn mind. When she gets back, she answers to the code. No mercy.”

‘I’m sending trackers out now. She thinks she can hide forever? When I find her…

His phone didn’t even make it out of his pocket before Dad’s rang.

“Hello?…What? Veyra’s body is in the hospital morgue? You want us to identify it?”

He hung up fast. “Scam caller. Targeting me. Unbelievable.”

Mom’s voice was thin. “What if it’s real?”

Dad hesitated. “No. Has to be a con.”

Calyra’s voice was small. “Maybe… maybe Veyra hired someone to call. To sell the act.”

Kellan nodded. “Yeah. She wants us to think she’s dead. Wants us to feel guilty.”

Lucien was already barking orders. “Betas. Find Veyra. Twenty-four hours. No excuses.”

Calyra shrieked. “Oh my god. Veyra’s fake death is all over the headlines. Everyone’s trashing us online.”

Dad’s face went gray. “Get PR on this now. Bury every story. Damage control. Minimal fallout.”

His hands were shaking. “When we find her, I’m done. She’s no daughter of mine.”

“Dad, don’t say that. She’s just…” Calyra’s lips said the words. Her smirk told the truth.

The house went quiet. Tense.

Twenty-four hours passed.

Nothing. Not a trace. Like I’d vanished into thin air.

Lucien frowned. “A full day. With our network? It doesn’t make sense. A girl with a broken leg can’t just disappear.”

His foot tapped faster. “Something’s wrong.”

Calyra cut in. “Impossible. She’s hiding on purpose. She’s fine.”

Lucien exhaled hard. His eyes caught something under the couch. My phone.

He dove for it. Knew my passcode. My birthday.

He opened my voice memos.

One file. From yesterday.

He hit play.

The sounds filled the room. My screams. Beatrice’s curses. Bats cracking bone.

Everything.

Every face in that room went white.

Lucien turned slowly. “Beatrice. Explain. Now.”
