The Petty Secretary Vs The Literal Sister Chapter 05

Gavin’s face cracked.

The entire room erupted.

The color drained from Sloane’s face in an instant.

I went on. “Our legal team at Callahan Holdings completed its final risk assessment this morning.”

“We discovered serious internal governance issues at Thorne Digital Solutions–repeated

overreach by the executive office, lax handling of key project materials.”

“The risk to our investment is simply too high. We’ve decided to withdraw from this round entirely.”

The reporters smelled blood.

“Miss Callahan, are you referring to Ms. Merrick when you mention the executive office?”

“Has Mr. Thorne failed in his management duties?”

“Will this decision jeopardize the launch of the project?”

Gavin stared at me like he wanted to tear me apart. He lifted his microphone.

“Drew, does Mr. Callahan know about a decision this important?”

My father rose to his feet. “I do.”

Just two words. Gavin’s face went white.

Dad walked to my side and faced the cameras.

“Every investment decision Callahan Holdings makes is based on risk assessment.”

“Personal relationships never influence business judgment.”

“What my daughter just said reflects our official position.”

The room exploded. Gavin’s partners were panicking. No one understood better than them what it

meant for Callahan Holdings to pull out.

This project had already burned through too much capital.

Without our funding, their next round was dead in the water.

Sloane finally snapped. “Miss Callahan, how could you do this at a launch event?”

“This is a personal vendetta! You’re using business as an excuse!”

I turned toward her.

“Ms. Merrick, yesterday at 2:07 a.m., you sent the new product’s customer demo data to your

personal email.”

“At 2:21 a.m., you forwarded it to an overseas address.”

“Care to explain whether that’s standard procedure or just another one of your jokes?”

Gavin spun around. “What did you do?”

Sloane’s lips turned white.

“I didn’t. I swear, I didn’t-”

I raised a hand. My assistant projected a document onto the giant screen behind us.

The email records, login IPs, and forwarding timestamps all lined up perfectly. There was no room

for doubt.

The media went wild. Camera flashes lit up the ballroom.

I spoke calmly, “Sloane always said she and Gavin were partners. Soulmates in business.”

“I figured she deserved a little recognition–so I compiled some of her professional highlights.”

“And along the way, I noticed it wasn’t just a one–time thing.”

“For the past six months, client lists, algorithm reports, and bid information from Thorne Digital Solutions were all routed through her personal account.”

Gavin’s face was ashen.

Sloane looked ready to collapse.

“It wasn’t me. Someone must’ve hacked my account.”

I nodded. “That’s a reasonable possibility.”

“So we already reported it to federal authorities.”

The words had barely left my mouth when the ballroom doors swung open.

Investigators and law enforcement officers walked inside.

Sloane’s knees nearly gave out beneath her.

Gavin’s glamorous product launch had officially become a crime scene.
