The entire room went dead silent.

Adrian froze.

“The Hart family?”

He sounded as if he had just heard the most ridiculous joke in the world.

“Which Hart family?”

Ethan ignored him.

He carried me out of the tank and wrapped his own suit jacket around my soaked body.

“Doctors.”

Several doctors who had come with him rushed forward at once.

One cut open what was left of my ruined gown. Another treated the wounds on my legs. Someone else wrapped me in a thermal blanket.

I was trembling from the pain, but my fingers still clutched Ethan’s sleeve with all the strength I had left.

“Ethan,” I whispered, my voice breaking.

For the first time in ten years, I called him my brother.

His eyes reddened instantly.

Ten years ago, I had fought with my family because of Adrian.

Ethan said Adrian was not good enough for me.

I said he looked down on the man I loved.

After that day, I blocked every member of my family.

I thought I had chosen love. Only now did I realize I had chosen a snake who knew nothing of gratitude.

Ethan looked down at me, his voice so hoarse it barely sounded like him.

“Evie, I’m sorry.”

“I should have come sooner.”

I shook my head.

Before I could say anything else, a wave of pain dragged darkness over my vision.

Right before I passed out, I heard Ethan speak to the people behind him.

“Lock down the entire aquarium.”

“No one who was here tonight leaves.”

“Pull the security footage, livestream recordings, rescue logs, dangerous species registrations, and equity documents.”

“And one more thing.”

He paused for a second, his voice so cold it seemed to freeze the air.

“Pin Adrian Whitmore’s hand down.”

Adrian finally panicked.

“You wouldn’t dare!”

Ethan walked up to him.

“Which hand did you use to stop the rescue pole?”

Adrian’s face went white.

“This is a misunderstanding. It’s all a misunderstanding.”

“I didn’t know Evelyn was your sister.”

Ethan kicked him hard in the back of the knee.

Adrian crashed to his knees.

Sienna screamed in terror. “Adrian!”

She tried to rush toward him, but the bodyguards pinned her down.

Ethan glanced at her.

“Don’t worry.”

“You’re part of this too.”

Adrian was still struggling.

“Evelyn is my wife. This is a family matter!”

Ethan let out a cold laugh.

“A family matter?”

He lifted a hand, and one of the bodyguards threw a document onto the aquarium’s giant screen.

It was the technical licensing agreement for the aquarium.

[Controlling shareholder, Evelyn Hart.]

Adrian’s head snapped up.

The screen switched to another document.

All three of Whitmore Group’s early financing rounds had come from an anonymous fund owned by Hart Group.

The third document revealed who had really introduced the first client that saved Adrian’s company.

A wave of shocked gasps spread through the hall.

Ethan looked down at Adrian.

“That so-called self-made empire of yours?”

“My sister paved every step of it for you.”

“You used her aquarium to host your opening gala.”

“Then you used her as fish bait.”

“Adrian Whitmore, that’s one hell of a way to repay someone.”
