The Period Blood Drew the Fish And He Called Me Dramatic Chapter 03

My words enraged Adrian completely. He stood up and let out a cold laugh.

“Evelyn Hart, do you still think you’re in any position to threaten anyone?”

He took a document from his assistant.

Under the lights, the white pages looked painfully bright.

The moment I saw the words on the front page, my breath caught.

Divorce Agreement.

Adrian had already signed it.

He opened the agreement and held it out over the water for me to see.

“I was going to give this to you after the opening gala.”

“But since you insisted on making a scene today, we might as well settle everything now.”

Sienna leaned against him, no longer bothering to hide her smile.

Adrian said coldly, “Evelyn, I’ve already transferred fifty-one percent of my shares to Sienna as her twenty-second birthday gift.”

“Once you sign this, the company will belong entirely to Sienna and me.”

A ringing filled my ears.

That company was something I had helped him build from nothing.

In the beginning, we could not even afford an office. I pawned the last heirloom pendant my mother had left me to pay his first year of office rent.

His first major client only agreed to meet Adrian after I waited outside for three hours in a rainstorm.

And now he was telling me the company belonged to him and Sienna.

“Did you really think I loved you?”

Adrian looked at me as if I were a tool he had used until it broke.

“An orphan like you was nothing more than a stepping stone on my way up.”

“When you were obedient, I was willing to let you keep the title of Mrs. Whitmore.”

“Now that you’re useless, it’s time for you to step aside.”

Sienna took out her phone and deliberately held the share transfer page in front of me.

“Mrs. Whitmore, thank you for making this possible.”

“Adrian and I will be happy forever.”

She smiled brightly.

The water around me grew colder and colder.

More wounds opened across my legs, and my body sank little by little. Water flooded my nose, and the taste of blood filled my throat.

My mind began to blur. Through the noise, I heard someone shout, “Is she sinking?”

“Are they really not going to help her?”

“Mr. Whitmore said they’re exhibit fish. She should be fine, right?”

My fingers slipped from the edge of the tank.

Just as I was about to sink completely, a massive roar suddenly came from above the aquarium, like thunder pressing down over the glass roof.

The guests looked up in panic.

The next second, blinding searchlights flared outside the glass dome.

Someone screamed, “A helicopter!”

Adrian’s expression changed.

“What the hell is going on?”

With a violent crash, a breaching charge shattered a section of reinforced glass along the side of the dome. Bodyguards dressed in black descended on ropes from above.

Their movements were swift and precise. In an instant, they secured the exits, the security room, and the edge of the tank.

The last man to descend wore a custom black suit. He stood in the light, his face as cold as frost.

His gaze swept across the room before finally landing on me in the bloodied water.

His pupils contracted.

“Evie!”

Ethan jumped into the tank without hesitation.

Water splashed everywhere.

When he carried me out of the swarm of fish, his arms were shaking.

Adrian had turned pale from the shock, but he still forced himself to shout, “Who are you people? How dare you break into my place?”

Ethan held me in his arms and slowly lifted his head. There was no warmth in his eyes at all.

“You touched someone from the Hart family.”

“Have you decided how you want to die?”
