The Period Blood Drew the Fish And He Called Me Dramatic Chapter 01

On the night of the Whitmore family’s private aquarium opening gala, I got my period. Pale from the cramps, I only wanted to leave early.

But my husband’s childhood sweetheart blocked my way, smiling sweetly as she said they needed something fun to liven up the event. She wanted to film a “Mrs. Whitmore Courage Challenge.”

The next second, she shoved me hard into the piranha exhibit tank.

“Oh my God, Mrs. Whitmore, why are you bleeding? Won’t the fish go crazy?”

The water quickly turned red. The scent of blood and my frantic struggling sent the school of fish swarming toward me.

I screamed, my voice tearing through the hall. “Adrian Whitmore, help me!”

But he stood at the edge of the tank, shielding Sienna behind him, his voice ice-cold.

“It’s just your period. They’re exhibit fish. Would it kill you to play along for once?”

“Don’t scare Sienna.”

I clung desperately to the wall of the tank. My hand brushed against my soaked phone, and I dialed a number I had not called in ten years.

“Contact every aquarium in the city and have every piranha they own sent here.”

“I’m going to feed every last piece of that cheating pair to them.”

The other end of the line went silent for two seconds. Then a man’s low voice trembled through the speaker.

“Evie?”

Before I could answer, my grip slipped, and the water dragged me down another few inches.

The water was freezing. My white gown had soaked through completely, heavy as iron as it pulled my body under.

Cramps tore through my lower abdomen, and darkness flickered at the edges of my vision. I dug my fingers into the stone rim of the tank so hard my nails nearly broke against the cracks.

Above me, the crowd burst into laughter.

Sienna leaned into Adrian’s arms, laughing so hard her shoulders shook.

“Adrian, she’s so dramatic. She’s honestly scaring me.”

“She said she was calling every aquarium in the city? Who does she think she is?”

Adrian looked down at me, disgust filling his eyes.

“Evelyn Hart, there’s a limit to how far you can take this act.”

“You think one random phone call is enough to scare me?”

“If you were really that powerful, would you have spent the last ten years living off the Whitmore family?”

Half an hour earlier, during the ribbon-cutting ceremony, Sienna had rushed to pin the “Mrs. Whitmore” corsage on herself and cling to Adrian’s arm in front of the cameras.

All I had done was take the corsage off and ask the staff to put it away.

Her eyes had instantly turned red as she asked, “I was only wearing it for fun. Are you scared I’ll steal your place as Mrs. Whitmore?”

Adrian’s face had darkened on the spot. He said I could not even tolerate a harmless joke from her.

Later, she shoved a camera in my face and pressured me to film the so-called courage challenge. When I said I wasn’t feeling well, she smiled and asked if I had hated her all along.

So now, after she had pushed me into a piranha tank and left me fighting for my life, Adrian still saw it as nothing more than my jealousy.

The guests around us laughed along.

Some held up their phones to film me.

Some covered their noses and stepped back.

Some even started livestreaming.

[This ribbon-cutting ceremony is wild. The Mrs. Whitmore Courage Challenge is actually insane.]

[The Whitmore aquarium really went all out for the opening show.]

[She’s not going to actually get bitten, right?]

The moment those words left someone’s mouth, a fish shot forward and bit down on my calf.

Its teeth felt like a row of tiny hooks, sinking into my flesh and refusing to let go.

Pain exploded from deep inside the bone.

I let out a muffled cry and looked down, only to see the water beneath my white gown darkening fast.

At first, it was period blood. Then fresh blood from the wound began to seep into it.

The red spread through the water in rippling circles, like an invisible hand pulling every shadow beneath the surface straight toward me.

“Adrian Whitmore!”

My voice broke.

“They’re really biting me! Pull me out!”

Adrian frowned impatiently.

“Sorry about this, everyone.”

He turned and gave the guests an apologetic smile.

“My wife has always been dramatic. She’s never seen exhibit fish like this before, so she got scared and overreacted. I apologize for the scene.”

“These fish are well-fed. They’re harmless.”

Sienna blinked as if she were genuinely worried.

“Mrs. Whitmore, hurry up and climb out.”

“Your blood is scaring the poor little fish. Poor things.”

She sounded innocent, but the moment she said it, every gaze in the room dropped to the water spreading around the hem of my dress.

I had never felt so humiliated in my life.

The white gown, the bloody water, the fish, and all those laughing cameras.

I felt like an exhibit someone had tossed into the tank for entertainment.

At last, one staff member realized something was wrong. He grabbed a rescue pole and started extending it toward me.

A sliver of hope lit up in my eyes.

But Adrian raised his hand and stopped him.

“No need.”

He looked at me coldly.

“If she were really in danger, she would have climbed out by now.”

Sienna hid behind him, her voice soft and sweet.

“Mrs. Whitmore, don’t move around so much.”

“The more you struggle, the faster the blood spreads. The fish will only get more excited.”

After she said it, she deliberately covered her mouth.

“Oh no. Did I say the wrong thing?”

The dark shadows beneath the water pressed closer. Another fish slipped beneath the hem of my gown and lunged upward, biting hard into my thigh.

The pain made my arm give out, and I nearly sank under completely.

On the phone, Ethan Hart’s voice suddenly turned cold.

“Evie, hang on. I’m on my way.”
