Julian’s face remained stoic, but his phone began to vibrate urgently.

He answered and put it on speaker.

The investigator’s report hit Melody like a sledgehammer.

“Mr. Vance, I’ve found them. The group that took Melody said the person who hired them… was Melody herself.”

The air went still. Melody’s expression shifted from expectation to shock to absoluté terror.

She swallowed hard.

Wasn’t it obvious it was Sienna’s doing!

Why did Julian actually investigate…

She was finished…

Melody was panicking, her words incoherent and her voice trembling.

“No, that’s not it.”

She grabbed the man’s sleeve. “That’s not how it happened!”

“It was Sienna Sterling! I heard them talking to her! She must have bribed this investigator! Julian,

you have to believe me!”

She pulled up her sleeve to show the red marks. “Look; these are from when I was tied up!”

“How could I hire someone to kidnap myself!”

Julian looked down at the woman, feeling a wave of sheer disgust.

“Don’t touch me! Get away!”

With a sweep of his arm, the girl fell to the floor.

She lay there, crying uncontrollably.

The secretaries outside were wide-eyed, enjoying every second of the drama.

“I wish I could see inside!”

“She was acting like the new boss earlier, and now… ha!”

“It’s so satisfying. She was always so arrogant, and now she’s just pathetic!”

They didn’t bother to lower their voices, and Melody heard every word.

She clenched her fingers, her face burning.

Julian made no move to stop them.

“Julian…” Melody had no choice; she crawled over and tugged at his pant leg. “I’m sorry, I was

wrong.”

“I just love you so much. I just wanted to be with you.”

Tears streamed down her face as she tried to look vulnerable for him.

“You and Sienna are just business partners. You don’t love each other. Why can’t we be together?”

Those words made Julian’s skin crawl with revulsion.

He stepped back to distance himself.

“Do you think I love *you*?”

Melody froze. “Don’t you?”

Julian sneered. “I just saw you as a charity case. Did you really think someone with no background could marry into the Vance family?”

As Melody’s face went white, Julian continued his mockery.

“I’d be disowned if I ever married someone like you!”

“Besides, I feel nothing for you. The only person I love, the only wife I want, is Sienna Sterling!”

Melody’s pupils dilated.

“What?”

This time, she was truly heartbroken. “You don’t love me?”

Julian scoffed and, unwilling to continue the farce, called security.

He addressed the two guards who entered.

“Throw her out. I don’t want to see Melody Waters in Kingsport ever again!”

Melody’s eyes widened.

“No…” She struggled as the guards dragged her away. “You can’t do this to me, Julian Vance! You

can’t!”

But her cries were met only with his cold, unfeeling gaze.

With Melody gone,

Julian felt a sense of utter loss.

He sat alone in his office until the sun went down, then suddenly stood up and drove toward the Sterling estate.

At that moment, I was relaxing on the sofa while my mother massaged my temples.

“Still hurt?”

I closed my eyes contentedly. “Hehe, thanks Mom, I’m better.”

The butler arrived to report.

“Ma’am, Miss, the Vance man is here.”

opened my eyes, filled with coldness. My mother looked disgusted. “Tell him to go away.”

“Wait.”

I stood up. “I’ll talk to him, so he doesn’t keep pestering me like an annoying fly.”

I went outside, where Julian was waiting anxiously.

“What do you want now?”

He bit his lip. “Sienna, I know the truth now. I’ve dealt with Melody. Can we… can we not divorce?”

I felt only annoyance.

“After everything, do you really think we can just make up?”

“Don’t be ridiculous. You can refuse to sign, and I’ll just sue. I have more than enough evidence of your infidelity, and the Sterling legal team doesn’t play around.”

Julian’s shoulders slumped.

Looking at the woman’s emotionless eyes, he felt a suffocating pain in his chest.

Finally, he spoke with a raspy voice.

“Fine… I’ll sign.”

I nodded with satisfaction and turned to leave.

Leaving his lonely figure standing there in the darkness, unmoving for a long time.
