The Nameless Luna Chapter 05

The Nameless Luna Chapter 05

Looking at the three confused faces in front of him, Elder Daniel finally realizes that they know nothing about the truth.

Regret flashes across his face as he realizes he spoke too soon.

“Alpha, Luna… didn’t you come here to question me?”

Dad’s eyes widen.

“We asked you to organize the entire pack to find my adopted daughter, Genevieve Sinclair. What do you mean Esther isn’t our biological daughter?”

Stephen steps forward in agitation and grabs Elder Daniel by the collar, “Explain everything to us!”

In the pack hall, Elder Daniel pours each of them a cup of coffee before slowly sitting down.

“When we verified everyone’s identities back then, your biological daughter’s information was

accidentally mixed up with Esther’s records. That mistake caused Esther to be sent to your family

instead.”

Elder Daniel takes a deep breath.

“When we discovered the mistake, we planned to tell both families the truth. But at that time, we learned that your real daughter and the couple raising her had died in a car accident a month

earlier. All three of them passed away at the scene.”

“If we revealed the truth then, we were afraid it would only hurt you and the girl.”

Elder Daniel turns toward Mom and Dad.

“Alpha, Luna, I’m sorry. If we had not made that mistake back then, perhaps your biological

daughter, the heir of our pack, would not have…”

He cannot finish the sentence.

Mom’s eyes turn red, and tears fall uncontrollably. Dad’s hands tremble as he lights a cigarette.

Stephen lowers his head, unable to tell what he is thinking.

The air around them feels unbearably heavy, as if it is pressing down on everyone’s chest.

Elder Daniel stands up and leaves.

Five minutes later, he returns with a file. He takes out a photograph and places it on the table.

“This is your biological daughter. Do you want to take a look?”

Mom suddenly stands up. Her eyes lock onto the smiling girl in the photo.

For the past six years, she has desperately tried to make up for Esther.

Because Esther always described her past sixteen years as a life filled with suffering, Mom had believed she had lost sixteen years of love and care.

For Esther, she had even wronged the adopted daughter she had raised for sixteen years.

But now Elder Daniel tells her that Esther was never her biological daughter.

She cannot accept it, “Are you sure there wasn’t another mistake?”

Mom’s voice trembles with fear, “How could something like this possibly go wrong?”

Dad puts out his cigarette. A tired expression appears on his face.

“How was she treated when she was alive?”

Elder Daniel freezes for a moment before realizing that the “she” Dad refers to is their biological

daughter who has passed away.

When he mentions the girl who died, regret fills his voice.

“In the sixteen years before we found out the truth, her adoptive parents took very good care of her.

And after she was reunited with her biological parents, she was their only child. She had two pairs

of parents who loved her.”

“She lived a very happy life before she passed away…”

Dad’s eyes become wet. He forces out a bitter smile, “That’s good…”

Stephen, who has remained silent this entire time, suddenly stands up.

His eyes are fixed on Elder Daniel, “Genevieve is missing. We need to find her.”

Elder Daniel looks through Genevieve’s departure application and calls her phone number.

After speaking with her, he slowly shakes his head at the three of them.

“Alpha, Luna, Genevieve applied to leave the pack before this. She is no longer a member of our

pack, and we cannot force her to return.”

“Also, she is an adult now. She says she is safe, does not want to see you, and does not want you to

disturb her life. She says she wants to start her own life.”

“Genevieve…”

Mom collapses onto the floor, crying uncontrollably.

The name she deliberately erased from her life for six years comes out of her mouth again.

But the person who owns that name can no longer hear her.

Dad helps Mom back toward the pack house. Stephen follows behind them.

The sudden truth leaves his mind completely blank.

When they open the door, Esther runs over with her phone in her hand, smiling brightly.

“I forgot to tell you the good news. I was accepted into the Black Moon Pack’s Warrior Program!”

“This is one of the top packs. After I finish the Warrior Program and come back, I will definitely lead

our pack to greatness.”

“In the future, I’ll always be able to stay by Mom, Dad, and Stephen’s side.”

Only after she finishes speaking does she notice the strange expressions on everyone’s faces.

“Mom, Dad, Stephen… what’s wrong?”
