The Nameless Luna Chapter 04

The Nameless Luna Chapter 04

“Are you crazy?”

I lose control and shout at Stephen, “Where did you throw my things?”

Without those documents, I can’t go to the Royal Pack at all. If I have to replace them, I will miss the reporting deadline.

Hearing the noise, Mom and Dad walk to the staircase.

They lower their voices as they scold me.

“Keep your voice down. Esther is resting in her room. She doesn’t want to hear you.”

My whole body trembles.

I try my best to control my emotions, but tears still fall.

“Stephen, where did you throw my documents?”

Stephen has never seen me this out of control before.

A trace of panic flashes across his face.

“They’re in the trash bins outside the pack house. Don’t cry. Worst case, I’ll go with you tomorrow to replace them…”

Before he finishes speaking, I push him aside and rush out of the pack house.

Barefoot, I run toward the pack’s garbage disposal area. The heat and rotten smell make me cover my mouth, fighting back the urge to vomit.

There are twelve overflowing trash bins.

I search through them one by one.

Halfway through, a warrior responsible for guarding the area comes over with a stick and tries to chase me away.

“What are you doing? You’ve made such a mess of the trash bins. Who’s going to clean this up?”

I cry as I beg them, “My documents were thrown away. I have to find them.”

The wound on my arm, which has just been bandaged, opens again.

Blood flows down my elbow and drips onto the ground.

I don’t know how long I search. Finally, I find my documents inside a trash bag.

I take out a piece of paper from my pocket and carefully wipe them clean.

Covered in dirt and barefoot, I drag myself back to the pack house.

The stones on the ground cut my feet open, leaving bloody footprints behind me.

I reach out and enter the passcode. The alarm announcing “Incorrect password” echoes through the entrance.

Mom’s voice comes from behind the door.

“Your father and I talked about it. We think you should stay somewhere else for a while. Once Esther gets better, you can come back.”

A moment later, an envelope is pushed through the gap beneath the door.

She lowers her voice, “Giving you money through a transfer might let Esther notice. Take this cash and use it for now.”

I take a deep breath, “My luggage…”

Before I can finish, she opens the door, pushes out the suitcase she has already packed for me, and immediately closes it again.

I don’t miss the look on her face when she covers her nose in disgust as the door shuts.

The entrance falls silent once again.

This time, I don’t cry. My tears have never mattered more than Esther’s emotions.

I leave the envelope on the ground untouched.

I pick up the phone sitting on top of my suitcase and change my flight from tomorrow night to tonight.

After taking a shower at a public bathhouse, I drag my suitcase toward the airport.

Before my phone shuts down, I see a notification from the family group.

Esther has posted a photo of herself sitting in a restaurant with Mom, Dad, and Stephen.

A beautiful birthday cake sits on the table.

The words written on it are: [Happy Birthday, Princess Esther.]

Today is my birthday too. But ever since Esther came back, I have not been allowed to celebrate it with her.

Mom, Dad, and Stephen all send her birthday gifts in the group chat.

The next second, Stephen sends me a private birthday gift as well.

Below it, he adds one sentence: “Why don’t you just change your name? After all, your name originally belonged to Esther.”

I don’t reply.

I leave the family group chat and block all of them.

Then I turn off my phone.

……

Seeing the notification that Genevieve has left the group, Mom and Dad show no reaction.

Esther curls her lips slightly and continues eating happily.

Stephen sends Genevieve a question mark, wanting to ask why she suddenly left the group.

But the message shows that he has been blocked.

He frowns.

He assumes Genevieve is just throwing a tantrum because of what he said.

It isn’t until half a month later, when no one can contact Genevieve, that they finally realize something is wrong.

Mom, Dad, and Stephen send pack members out to search for her.

The pack elder in charge of the search is Elder Daniel, the same elder who found Esther and brought her back.

Elder Daniel’s face turns pale. He pulls them aside.

“Alpha, Luna… I knew this secret couldn’t stay hidden forever. I just never expected you to find out so soon…”

“The bloodline test results were indeed wrong by accident back then. We discovered the truth a year later. But by that time, we saw how happy Esther was living with you, so we decided to let things continue as they were.”

“Wait. What do you mean?” Mom stares at Elder Daniel in shock.

Elder Daniel hesitates, then finally says, “She’s not your daughter!”
