The Nameless Luna Chapter 03

The Nameless Luna Chapter 03

The next day, Aunt Beatrice comes to the pack house for lunch.

She sits on the couch, enjoying dessert, while my cousin Oliver sits beside her, his head lowered as he plays on his phone.

Esther holds a tablet and helps Oliver look through schools.

“Oliver, applying to Royal Fang Academy should be no problem. Their medical program is excellent. You want to become a pack doctor, right?”

Oliver doesn’t even look up. He simply hums in response.

The smile on Esther’s face stiffens slightly.

“Esther, you’re amazing. I knew I came to the right person.”

Aunt Beatrice immediately chimes in, then turns her head toward me, where I sit alone in the corner.

“That… you…”

She pauses for a while, clearly unable to remember my name, “Never mind. How is your job search going?”

I am already used to it, “Aunt Beatrice, I…”

“Genevieve. Her name is Genevieve Sinclair.”

Oliver puts down his phone and looks up.

“I really don’t understand why a name is such a big deal. Esther, are you really being this dramatic?”

The moment he says that, the entire living room falls into silence.

Suddenly, Esther stands up. She grabs the silver knife on the table and presses it against her neck, looking completely unhinged.

“Do you all want me to die? If I die, will she finally be able to take my identity and steal my parents away from me?”

Her voice becomes hoarse from screaming.

“Why did you have to switch us at birth? Why did you let me suffer for all these years?”

“I thought I was the unwanted child. Then you tell me someone else has been living the life that should have been mine, while I’m the one who has to suffer for her?”

“Why should I bear the consequences of your mistake?”

Mom’s face turns pale with fear. Dad raises his hands, trying to calm her down.

After receiving the news, Stephen immediately rushes over from his pack.

“Esther, you are the only daughter of the Alpha and Luna. And you have me. Haven’t I always been by your side?”

He slowly walks toward her, “Be good. Listen to me and give me the knife.”

Just as Stephen is about to take the knife from her hand, Esther suddenly swings it toward me.

The blade cuts across my arm, leaving a thin line of blood.

“Esther! Are you okay?”

“You scared Mom to death. Your father and I only love you.”

Mom, Dad, and Stephen all surround Esther.

No one notices my bleeding arm.

“Genevieve, you’re bleeding! We need to get you to the pack hospital!”

Oliver grabs Aunt Beatrice and takes me to the pack doctor.

On the way there, he keeps apologizing.

“Genevieve, I didn’t know Esther would actually lose control and hurt you. I’m sorry.”

He is the only person in this pack who still remembers my name. I tell him I don’t blame him.

Esther did it on purpose.

She wasn’t really losing control. She just wanted to use this method to force me out of the house.

I don’t tell him the truth because even if I do, no one will believe me.

It isn’t until I finish getting my wound treated and leave the pack hospital that I receive three messages on my phone.

The first one is from Mom: [Don’t say anything when you come back to the pack house. Esther can’t handle any more stress.]

The second one is from Dad: [Don’t blame Esther for what happened today.]

The last one is from Stephen: [Seeing Esther lose control because of you, are you happy now?]

No one asks if I am hurt.

I carry the plastic bag filled with medicine back home. When I open the attic door, I freeze.

My suitcase is lying open on the floor, and everything inside has been thrown into chaos.

All of my identification documents are gone.

I search through my things in panic when a voice comes from behind the door.

Stephen is leaning against the doorway, his expression calm.

“Esther doesn’t allow anything related to your name to exist in this house.”

“To calm her down, I threw everything away in front of her.”
