The Muted Luna’s Revenge Chapter 07

The Muted Luna’s Revenge Chapter 07

By my third month in London, my voice had completely recovered.

Life at Royal Crescent Conservatory had gone more smoothly than I’d imagined.

With the drugs no longer holding it back, my voice finally soared.

Whenever I sang, it rang clear and bright, and I felt freer than I ever had before.

My mentor said I had the potential to become a world-class vocalist.

My name also began circulating the conservatory and the arts communities of several packs.

Kael’s call came as a surprise.

I’d already blocked every number I recognized from Silverveil Pack, so I answered without thinking.

Then I heard his urgent, hoarse voice.

“Maeve, I finally reached you… Please don’t hang up!”

“Listen to me. Everything that happened before was a misunderstanding.”

“Lyra has a heart condition. You know that. Everyone had to give in to her. I didn’t have a choice either.”

“But Maeve, you’re the one I’ve always wanted to bond with.”

“I’ve explained everything to everyone. Your mother misses you too…”

When I said nothing, his breathing grew heavier, and his voice began to tremble.

“I saw the video of you singing. Your voice is back, isn’t it?”

“Can you say something? Just one word… Please let me hear your voice.”

I’d imagined this moment through countless sleepless nights.

If I ever spoke again, would he be the first person who wanted to hear me?

But now that the moment had arrived, I felt nothing but calm.

“Kael, we broke up. You don’t need to explain any of this to me.”

Noise erupted on the other end.

Then Mom’s tearful voice broke in.

“Maeve, I’m begging you. Please come home…”

“If you won’t come home, then at least tell me where you are. I can’t stop worrying about you out there alone…”

I closed my eyes. “Were you worried about me when you drugged me?”

The line went silent.

“I signed the letter cutting all family ties. Blood or affection, there is nothing left between us.”

Selene’s voice came next.

“Maeve, what about us? After all these years of friendship…”

“We’re not friends anymore.”

I ended the call.

When the screen went dark, I felt strangely at peace.

After standing there for a moment, I opened my laptop and clicked on a folder I’d prepared long ago.

Inside was a recording I’d secretly made while they took my blood at the hospital.

Lyra had bribed Ashford Pack hospital to fake her heart condition from the beginning.

Before I lost consciousness, I’d managed to photograph the forged medical chart.

Once I reached London, I hired a team of specialists to verify everything several times over.

I waited until every piece of evidence fit together.

Then I spent an entire night organizing it into a clear report.

I sent it to several pack news outlets and posted it on public forums.

By dawn, one hashtag after another was climbing the trending list.

The accusations and abuse that had once buried me collapsed beneath the truth.

I cleared my name and made sure everyone saw what had really happened.

When it was done, I removed my SIM card and tossed it aside.

That number had once connected me to everything in Silverveil Pack.

My family.

My friends.

The mate I had once loved.

Now, I had no reason to keep it.

The first light of dawn was breaking over London outside my window.

I opened it and drew a deep breath.

From that day forward, I wanted nothing more to do with any of them.
