The Marriage License Was A Lie Chapter 07

The Marriage License Was A Lie Chapter 07

Adrian and spoiled little Chloe ran for their lives, but the swarm behind them kept coming. The cockroaches poured after them like they had been trained to hunt them down.

The other men were not so lucky. They tripped and collapsed to the floor, and the black-clad bodyguards walked over and forced the cockroaches down their throats.

Only then did they realize they had offended the wrong person.

They had crossed someone far more dangerous than they realized.

They did not even get the chance to beg before they were forced to choke down the consequences of what they had done.

“Damn it. Chloe got us killed.”

“That damned Evelyn Blackwood. She’s more venomous than a black widow.”

Upstairs, Chloe finally ran out of strength and collapsed.

A swarm of cockroaches crawled toward her, and the bodyguards behind them began to move.

Just as I opened the door of the Maserati, I heard Chloe’s scream.

“What a lovely sound. Not bad.”

Satisfied, I got into the passenger seat. Scarlett started the sports car and sped away.

We arrived at a secluded estate hidden between wooded hills and a private lake.

The moment I got out of the car, I saw Sebastian walking toward me.

His handsome face was unsmiling as ever, cold and distant.

Only when he saw me did the icy distance around him finally soften.

“Evelyn.”

The faint warmth in Sebastian’s eyes vanished the second he saw my condition.

I knew better than anyone what he was thinking.

And this time, I had no intention of stopping him.

He gave the trusted men beside him a single glance, and they immediately understood.

Adrian and Chloe were going to suffer even worse now.

I said nothing and walked inside. Sebastian followed close behind me.

After changing, I stepped back out and heard Sebastian on the phone.

Adrian’s and Chloe’s pained voices came through from the other end.

I felt nothing.

The moment Adrian abandoned me, I erased him from my life for good.

“Evelyn, are you feeling better?”

I walked to the wine cabinet, opened a case, and took out an expensive bottle I had kept for years.

“Yes.”

“These scratches are nothing.”

I had grown up in a world of schemes, bloodshed, and betrayal. I had suffered far worse wounds than this.

I poured a glass for Sebastian. The moment he took it, he suddenly caught my wrist and pulled me into his arms.

“Will you give me a chance this time?”

I looked deeply into his eyes.

Without hesitation, he lowered his head and kissed me.

Only after a long moment did I finally push him away.

Sebastian actually laughed softly.

“I don’t often get to see you blush.”

I looked up and gave a faint laugh too.

“I don’t often get to see your gentle side either.”

He was the king of the underworld, and truthfully, so was I.

We should have been rivals, yet fate kept dragging us back to each other.

Scarlett sat outside on the balcony, letting the wind lift her fiery red hair.

“Do you two seriously forget I exist?”

“I may be single, but I still deserve a little dignity.”

The moment she finished speaking, Sebastian and I laughed at the same time.
