The Mafia Real Daughter’s Revenge Chapter 07

The Mafia Real Daughter’s Revenge Chapter 07

The entire admissions hall erupted.

I stared at the DNA report in the Vice President’s hand, unable to process what I was hearing.

Lucius and Maria looked no different.

“That’s impossible.”

Lucius’s voice cracked.

“You think the Moretti family

dn’t even get a DNA test right?”

The Vice President remained calm.

“I have no doubt the Moretti family maintains strict standards.”

“But what if someone spent five years studying DNA testing for the sole purpose of becoming your daughter?”

Something clicked inside Lucius’s mind. He turned slowly toward Rachel.

Realization gave way to fury.

“So that’s it.”.

His voice trembled.

“I kept wondering how you could look nothing like us, think nothing like us, act nothing like us.”

His face twisted.

“You’re the imposter.”

Maria looked as though she’d been struck by lightning. She lunged at Rachel without a shred of dignity left.

“You lied to us!”

Her voice echoed through the hall.

“We worried about you. Protected you. Bought you everything you wanted.”

Her eyes were bloodshot.

“And while we were doing that, we were destroying our own daughter.”

One slap followed another.

Rachel collapsed to her knees.

“Mom!”

“Don’t call me that!”

Maria’s scream was almost hysterical.

“You think you’re my daughter?”

“I don’t know who raised you, but they should be ashamed.”

Rachel clung desperately to her leg.

Tears streamed down her face.

“Mr. and Mrs. Moretti, we’ve lived together for a year.”

She sobbed.

“Even if we’re not related by blood, didn’t you say you’d still love me?”

Maria ripped off one of her heels and hurled it at her.

“Get out!”

Her voice shook with rage.

“You spent a year slandering our daughter and still have the nerve to say that?”

Rachel stumbled backward in terror. Then she ran toward me.

“Nathan. You still love

me,

don’t you?”

I said nothing.

I simply watched.

The crowd descended on Rachel. In our world, betrayal was the one sin nobody tolerated. The chaos

only ended when police sirens echoed outside.

Rachel was taken in for questioning. Lucius and Maria, however, were let off with a warning because of the Moretti family’s standing.

As for me, I spent the afternoon being questioned by investigators.

When it was finally over, my attorney delivered the final blow.

The Vito family’s stock value had collapsed. The damage couldn’t be undone. Every unauthorized transaction Rachel had made had been traced back to my authority.

Legally, it was my responsibility.

My future was effectively over.

The court granted me one month to settle my personal affairs before formal proceedings began.

As I sat in the precinct afterward, memories of Nora kept surfacing.

The distance in her eyes. The way she’d looked at me with caution instead of trust. The way she’d calmly asked to end our engagement.

For the first time, I understood. Nora hadn’t been trying to provoke me-she truly didn’t love me anymore.

And all this time, I’d kept putting Rachel first while ignoring the person who mattered most.

I almost killed her.

The realization made me sick.

If I had one more chance, I’d tell her I was sorry. I’d spend the rest of my life making it right.

As we prepared to leave, the police chief looked at Lucius and Maria and shook his head.

“Come on, Moretti.”

His tone softened slightly.

“You’re her parents. Families fight. It happens.”

“Nora’s a good kid. Talk to her. I’m sure she’ll-”

A young officer suddenly rushed over.

“Chief.”

The urgency in his voice cut through the room.

“The parents from this morning’s assault case are here.”
