The Luna Who Forgot Her Pack Chapter 06

The Luna Who Forgot Her Pack Chapter 06

Ethan’s gaze locked onto Grace. His lips trembled, but no sound came out.

Grace stumbled back and hit a cabinet. An unused vase on top wobbled, then crashed to the floor, shattering into pieces.

“Scarlett! Don’t say such horrible things!” Grace’s voice was shrill, almost unrecognizable. “When did I ever say that?”

Scarlett shrank away from her, hiding behind Ethan, her tear–streaked face half–visible. “You did say it! When you were

giving me a bath!”

“You said you’d replace her! You said if she died, we could be together forever! You told me to call her a stupid woman to her face! You told me to tell everyone she was the maid!”

The little girl was crying so hard she could barely breathe, her face covered in snot and tears.

Watching this, I felt a strange sense of satisfaction. The woman who wrote that diary… she probably died a little every

day in moments like this.

Now they were all getting what they deserved.

Ethan finally moved. He grabbed Grace’s wrist, and I thought I heard something creak. “Grace, what did you say to my

daughter?”

“I didn’t… Ethan, believe me! It’s just childish nonsense!” Tears streamed down Grace’s face. She looked at me with pleading eyes. “Elara, tell him! You know I would never do that!”

I raised an eyebrow. “I don’t know. I have amnesia. I don’t remember anything.”

Ethan released her as if burned, staggering back two steps, staring at her blankly like he was seeing a stranger.

His voice was raspy, raw. “So… you’ve been poisoning my daughter against her own mother? Teaching her to hate the woman who gave birth to her?”

‘Ethan, it wasn’t like that… I just…” Grace choked on her words. “I love you so much… I just wanted Scarlett to accept me..”

“Enough!” The word cracked like a whip. “Grace, how much of what you told me was true? That Elara slept around? That she left Scarlett alone for days? Was any of it true?”

Hearing this, I finally understood Grace’s earlier confession. Ethan might have cared for me once, but that care was fragile, easily broken. He had never truly trusted me.

I turned back into my room, grabbed the diary, and threw it at Ethan’s feet. “The truth you want is probably in there.”

Seeing the diary, Grace seemed to have all the bones sucked out of her body. She collapsed on the floor.

Scarlett cried and tugged at Ethan’s shirt, yelling. “Daddy. Daddy!” The living room was chaos.

Right then, I yawned, loud and jarring. “Don’t rush. I’m going to sleep. I turned and walked away.

“Elara!” Ethan’s voice came from behind me. I didn’t stop. He called again, his tone carrying a desperation. I’d never heard before. I kept walking.

Back in my corner room. I closed the door, shutting out the deafening cries and accusations.

Sitting on the creaking bed, a line from the diary surfaced in my mind: I thought if I loved him enough, he’d turn around. But he never did. He just kept walking forward, glancing back now and then to see if I was still following

So stupid.

I lay down, staring at the dim yellow bulb. About an hour later. Ethan’s hoarse voice came from outside the door. I didn’t respond.

“What you wrote in the diary… is it all true?” He leaned against the door, his voice thick. “Did I really… do all that?”

I turned over, my back to the wall. “I’m the one with amnesia, not you. You know whether it’s true or not. Leave me

alone.”

The hallway was silent for so long I thought he’d left. Then, so softly I almost missed it. “I’m sorry.”

I closed my eyes.

That apology came too late. A lifetime too late.

Too late for the woman who remembered everything. And for the woman who had forgotten everything she wanted

nothing.
