The Luna Who Forgot Her Pack Chapter 05

The Luna Who Forgot Her Pack Chapter 05

Scarlett fled, howling.

Ethan and Grace arrived at my door moments later. Ethan’s expression was strange, as if he were seeing completely different person. Finally, after a low plea from Grace, he spoke.

*Elara! Have you lost your mind? Hitting your own pup!”

“Maybe I have. You forget, I have amnesia. So right now, Scarlett Thorne is just a stranger’s kid to me. And a very badly behaved one at that.”

I glanced at Grace’s pale face. “There are photos of the three of you all over this house. You have the master bedroom.”

“Scarlett calls you Mommy and Daddy. If you want me to leave, just say so. But I’m not changing my life for someone

else’s family.”

The room fell into a dead silence.

I don’t know how long passed before Scarlett’s crying drifted from behind Grace.

I looked at the crying child, a mix of pity and disgust churning inside me.

My diary had recorded a scene like this.

A little girl taking a lunch I’d spent hours preparing for a school trip, then telling her friends. “My mom Grace made it! She’s amazing, not like that useless woman at home. I don’t know why Daddy makes her live with us.”

Ethan’s hand shot out, clamping down on my wrist like a vice. “Enough!”

My expression didn’t change. ‘One more thing. I’ve been racking my brain, trying to figure out why you were ever with

me.”

A cold smile touched my lips. ‘It wasn’t for my parents‘ money, was it?”

Ethan’s face contorted as if I’d struck him. The conflict ended there, dissolving into a bitter stalemate. No one went to Scarlett’s parent–teacher day.

About a week later, Grace came to my room. She looked tired, wearing a simple white dress, and sat on the edge of my

bed

It felt familiar, two close friends once talking about everything, including the boys they liked. It was during one of those

talks that she first told me she liked Ethan.

“Elara.” Her voice was hoarse. “I don’t know how things ended up like this. But Ethan and I… we love each other. We really do. Could you

I interrupted. “Then why did Ethan marry me?”

Grace’s lips parted, then closed. Finally, she sighed, a sound of utter defeat. “Back then… he did like you. I told him how I

felt. But he said no.”

Before she could continue, a sharp cry came from the doorway.

“You’re lying!”

Scarlett stood there, small fists clenched, face twisted. “You told me Daddy never loved her! You said you wished she’d fall

down the stairs and die! So we could be a real family!”

Grace’s face went completely pale. I looked up and saw Ethan standing in the hallway behind Scarlett, his face a mask of

shock.
