The Luna They Buried Too Soon Chapter 07

The Luna They Buried Too Soon Chapter 07

When Cassian saw the body, he let out a yell.

“We just found her a few days ago! We even ate together a few days ago. How the hell could she be dead?”

Cassian stared blankly, his voice soft and hollow.

Cassian couldn’t believe it and neither could Atticus. He glanced at the body indifferently, his tone oozing

confidence.

“You’re all officers of the Alpha King. How could you joke around with Arabella like this?”

He was convinced this was just a prank. I’d teamed up with the cops to mess with them.

Cassian, who’d lost his mind just moments ago, suddenly regained his senses.

“I knew it! You guys are pulling my leg!”

He spun around, yelling at the top of his lungs.

“Arabella, cut it out! Come out here like an adult!”

“This joke’s gone too far!”

His voice echoed through the morgue. They waited for what felt like an eternity, but no one answered.

The clock ticked by, and the air turned so quiet you could hear a pin drop.

“Gentlemen, you said you wanted to see the body and we showed it to you.” One of the officers said, his voice

rising with frustration.

“Now that you’ve seen her, you’re saying the dead woman teamed up with us to prank you?”

“Tell me. Who in their right mind would joke about their own death?”

By the last sentence, the officer was practically screaming. It was so loud that the two men were left

speechless.

They stood there, quiet for a long time. Then Atticus took a step forward, his voice trembling, and grabbed

my corpse’s hand.

The warmth of his palm seemed to seep through our long-broken mate bond, reaching my own hand.

I pressed my lips tight, wanting to snap at him to let go. But then I caught my reflection in his shocked eyes.

I froze, thinking he could see me. But Atticus just studied my face, then stumbled back in terror, his voice

shaking.

“It’s really her… It’s Arabella.”

“She’s dead?”

Disbelief laced his words. Maybe he’d never imagined that the woman who once swore she’d haunt him forever was now lying cold in front of him.

Cassian stood rooted to the spot, as if struck by lightning. He took a step forward instinctively, wanting to get a better look at my face. When his eyes landed on me, he stumbled back in fear and fell to the floor.

“How… how is this possible?”

The officers looked sympathetic, but then they thought about all the dirty secrets they’d uncovered, and their expressions turned to disgust.

One of them couldn’t hold back, sneering.

“Who are you putting on this act for now?”

“Wasn’t it you who sent her here in the first place?”

“And you have the nerve to call yourselves her Alpha mate and brother? You didn’t even know she had cancer, or that she only had days left to live!”

“These are just crocodile tears.”

Each mocking word hit them like a punch. Their faces turned bright red with shame and anger.

After a long silence, Atticus’s eyes turned red, and he choked out a question.

“We’ll take her back to bury her. What paperwork do we need?”

As soon as he finished speaking, an old, firm voice rang out.

“You won’t. I’m taking Arabella home.”

It was Headmistress Mom.

I had no idea when she’d appeared behind me.

A few days earlier, when I’d found out Headmistress Mom was the Moon Goddess, I’d broken down crying.

All the pain I’d endured over the years had suddenly become too much to bear.

Tears streamed down my face as I sobbed, “The chemo is brutal. The medicine is disgusting. And don’t even

get me started on washing dishes. It’s exhausting.”

“I didn’t want to worry you, but I couldn’t hold on anymore.”

She’d just pulled me into her arms, her voice filled with infinite tenderness.

“It’s all over now, my child.”

Now, Cassian looked furious. He pointed a finger at Headmistress Mom, sneering.

“Arabella’s my little sister! If anyone’s taking her home, it’s me!”

Headmistress Mom let out a snort of contempt.

“What kind of brother are you?”

“When your Duskhowl Pack brought Arabella home, you swore on your honor and promised me you’d make

her happy.”

“But look at her now! She’s dead!”

“She died alone in that cold jail cell!”

“I’m here to take her home today, and no one had better try to stop me!”

Both men turned bright red, unable to say a word.

Cassian refused to back down and moved to block her, but Atticus stopped him.

“Cassian, Headmistress has more of a right than us. This is probably what she wanted.”

Cassian had no choice but to watch as I was led away.

Suddenly, a sharp phone ring broke the silence. Atticus answered it, and his face turned pale.

“I’ll be right there.”

He hung up the phone and rushed toward his SUV. Cassian panicked, hurrying after him.

“What’s wrong? What happened?”

“Serena’s in trouble.”

The two drove home in silence.

As soon as they walked in, they saw Serena being held by two police officers. Elena was huddled on the sofa,

crying her eyes out.

“What are you doing?” Cassian rushed forward, trying to push the officers away.

“Alpha, please don’t interfere with our investigation.” The leading officer said, stepping in to block him.

“Investigation? What did Serena do? Spit it out!”

Serena, seeing her two protectors had arrived, straightened her back and screamed.

“Let me go right now! Did that bitch Arabella frame me?”

“I knew she was up to no good!”

The officers.ignored her tantrum, holding her firmly. Violet ran out of the kitchen just then.

“Alpha Atticus! Alpha Cassian! Please save Miss Serena!” She wailed, tears streaming down her face.

“Oh, this is a disaster!”

Atticus held up a hand to stop Cassian’s shouting and Violet’s crying, then asked politely.

“May I ask what my Luna is being arrested for?”

“She’s under arrest for multiple counts of plagiarism and conspiracy to commit murder.”

Cassian exploded with anger.

“What the hell are you talking about? How could my sister hire someone to kill?”

“Who did she kill? Tell me!”

The officer glanced at him calmly, then said two words, cold as ice.

“Arabella Quinn.”

The name hung in the air and the entire room went silent.

“Who?”
