The Luna They Buried Too Soon Chapter 06

The Luna They Buried Too Soon Chapter 06

As soon as the words left his mouth, Cassian burst out laughing.

“You’re kidding me, right?”

He laughed so hard he had to hold his sides, gasping for air.

“Dead? You mean she paid you off to lie to us? To play along with her little game?”

I wasn’t surprised. Cassian would never believe it. Staring at his cold, mocking face, I felt nothing. Not anger, not sadness, just numb.

After all, this was how he’d always been, ever since I’d first been found and brought home. He was convinced I was a compulsive liar. Every word out of my mouth was a lie in his eyes.

The young police officers looked at each other nervously, then spoke up again, more firmly this time.

“We called you the other day, Alpha. She really is dead.”

“Her body’s been in our morgue for days now.”

Even then, Cassian refused to believe it. He kicked a nearby desk, screaming.

“Impossible! She was perfectly healthy. How could she just drop dead? She’s lying! She’s always lying!”

“Cut the crap and get her out here!”

“Oh, I get it. You want money, don’t you?”

“Should’ve just said so. I’ve got plenty of cash.”

With that, Cassian pulled a few bank cards out of his wallet, and slammed them on the desk.

“Here, take it. Are you happy now?”

The pack police station was located on the main street of the wolf continent, under the authority of the

Alpha King. Being new to the job, the young officers had never been humiliated like this before. Their faces turned red with anger.

Cassian threw a fit in the jail, making a total mess.

“I said, get Arabella out here!”

“I gave you the money. What more do you want? Spit it out!”

One of the young officers couldn’t take it anymore. He slammed his fist on the desk, yelling at the top of his lungs.

“So you’ve got some money! Big deal!”

“I said she’s dead! You think your money makes you untouchable?”

“If you’re so tough, bring her back to life!”

Cassian’s face turned red with rage.

“You-”

“You say she’s dead? Fine! Where’s the body?”

“Drag it out here and let me see! I dare you!”

He grabbed a chair and threw it at the wall. The crash was so loud that it made even me, the dead one, flinch.

“Go ahead. Drag it out. I don’t mind.”

But no one could hear me.

The officers already felt sorry for me, and Cassian’s attitude made their anger boil over.

“Alpha, this isn’t your Duskhowl Pack. You have no right to act like this here.”

“Scream one more time, and we’ll lock you up too!”

Cassian was about to throw another fit, but a cold, sharp voice came from behind him.

“Cassian, control yourself. Stop making a scene.”

“If they say Arabella’s dead, then let them show us the body. I want to see for myself if she’s really dead, or

just faking it.”

Atticus stood in front of Cassian, dressed in a black suit, his expression confident. He didn’t believe I was

dead, not for a second.

The officers exchanged glances and sighed.

“Fine. Come with us.”

One of them stood up, gesturing for them to follow.

I knew it was all the Moon Goddess’s magic, but when I saw my own face, I felt a wave of dizziness.

My heart raced. There I was, lying there. It was the first time I’d seen my body since it had been taken to the

morgue.

It was bloated and pale, as if it had been submerged in seawater for days.

“This can’t be…”
