“Nova, I thought you were this great role model. If you’re secretly dating too, how did you even have the nerve to report Sylvie and Caleb?”

The girls in Sylvie’s clique didn’t hold back their sarcastic jabs.

Ever since they heard from Sylvie that Nova was just a chauffeur’s daughter, their disdain for her had only grown.

Even among the children of minor entrepreneurs, there was a strict hierarchy of contempt.

Alaric frowned, a hint of chilling malice in his eyes.

Terrified by his intimidating glare, the girls immediately clamped their mouths shut.

Everyone knew about Alaric’s history with gang fights. To the whole school, he was a dangerous ticking time bomb.

“Ignore them.”

Nova handed her backpack to Alaric.

He took it from her effortlessly.

But before they left, Alaric swept his gaze over the girls. “Watch your mouths.”

The blatant threat sent a shiver down their spines.

Three days later, the final exam results were posted.

Alaric surged straight to the number one spot in the grade. Under his tutoring, Nova secured third place. Meanwhile, Sylvie, who used to rank near the top, plummeted past the top fifty, and Caleb’s rank dropped to the twenties.

Standing at the podium, Ms. Albright fixed her gaze on Sylvie, her tone icy. “Sylvie, have your parents come in before you leave at noon.”

Hearing this, the color drained from Sylvie’s face.

She had always been a model student and had never been subjected to a parent-teacher meeting. Even when she started dating Caleb, Ms. Albright had let it slide without calling her parents, taking her feelings as a girl into consideration.

But recently, her grades had taken a massive hit, and she kept calling in sick just to go on dates with Caleb.

Ms. Albright had finally reached her limit.

“Ms. Albright… My dad is usually very busy. He might not have time to come in.”

“What about your mom?”

At the mention of her mother, Sylvie’s expression worsened.

As she remained silent, the others were confused, but Nova knew exactly what was going on.

Owen Sutton had divorced Sylvie’s mother a long time ago and raised her all by himself.

Now, in front of her classmates and teacher, there was no way Sylvie could admit her parents were divorced.

After all, the whole school thought she was the wealthy heiress of the Sutton family. If they found out she was just the daughter of their driver, the flawless image she had worked sa hard to maintain would instantly collapse.

Seeing Sylvie refuse to speak, Ms. Albright stated flatly, “Sylvie, your guardian is also

responsible for this drastic drop in your grades. Whether they are busy or not, someone, must come in at noon.”

With that, the teacher began assigning summer homework, giving Sylvie no room to argue.

The thought of her working-class father showing up at the school left Sylvie an anxious wreck.

If her classmates found out she was the only financial aid student in the junior year, her previous attempt to frame Nova would definitely be exposed.

By noon, most of the students had packed up and left for summer break, but Tina and a few others lingered behind.

Caleb stayed glued to Sylvie’s side, which only made her more frantic.
