The Lawyer’s Lie Chapter 12

The Lawyer’s Lie Chapter 12

At last, the judge struck the gavel.

“Noah Bennett is found not guilty. He is to be released immediately.”

“In addition, Wendy Wells is to be taken into custody immediately on suspicion of making a false accusation

and framing an innocent person. Julian Grant is suspected of obstruction of justice and will be handled in

separate proceedings.”

Court officers stepped forward and took Wendy away. She struggled and looked back at Julian.

“Julian! Julian, save me! I really didn’t know! I mistook him for someone else!”

Julian did not look at her.

He only stared fixedly at Clara, his brows drawn tight, as if he were in unbearable pain.

But Clara supported Noah and ignored him.

Completely and utterly ignored him.

The courthouse was surrounded by reporters, and more people were still on their way.

Noah’s conviction had been overturned. Once the news leaked, it blew up all of D.C.

“Mr. Grant, as one of D.C’s top defense lawyers, why didn’t you even verify the most basic information about

your own client?”

“Mr. Grant, was this intentional or an oversight?”

“What is your relationship with Wendy? Is it true someone photographed the two of you behaving

intimately?”

Julian did not answer anyone. He only pushed through the crowd and forced his way out.

He had to find Clara.

He had to apologize to her.

He had to make up for everything.

There had to be a misunderstanding somewhere. He finally understood why Clara had been so cold to him.

For the first time in his life, Julian was no longer composed and dignified. He searched for Clara in a panic, completely at a loss.

“Mr. Grant!”

His assistant finally caught up with him. In his rush, he collided with Julian.

The things in the assistant’s hands scattered across the ground.

Julian looked down, and his entire body froze.

It was a copy of the final divorce decree lying open, with two names written clearly on it.

Around him were the clamor of reporters, the flashes of cameras, and countless microphones thrust toward

him.

Yet he could not sense any of it.

He only stared at the divorce decree.

He remembered the day at the courthouse entrance when Clara had said to him, “Let’s get divorced.”

Julian’s throat tightened. His vision went black, and a violent pain tore through his heart, so severe that he

could barely stand.

His assistant hurriedly pushed through the crowd and pulled him away.

Only after they returned to the car did the assistant take out his phone, his hands trembling.

“Mr. Grant, there’s something else. A nurse from the psychiatric facility sent over a video. She said she

couldn’t keep silent anymore.”

“Please watch it. Ms. Wells was truly cruel. Everything she did was aimed at Clara. We were all deceived by

her…”
