I regained some of my composure and asked: 

“If I ask you to pay it back, will you?” She nodded without 

hesitation. 

“Yes. Give me your account info, and I’ll transfer it now.” 

I was surprised by how straightforward she was. 

I pulled out my phone and showed her my account number. 

Brooke didn’t hesitate and started the transfer. 

In less than a minute, $2,300,000 arrived in my account. 

“The money is back with you, and you can have the man. I just want my baby. Can I have her now?” My heart softened toward 

her. 

Just like me, her life over the past few years had been a tragic, 

ridiculous lie. 

I walked over, helped her up, and gently placed the baby in her 

arms: 

“This is your child. No one is going to take her from you.” 

She held the baby tight, as if afraid she’d be snatched away, 

and finally let out a long sigh of relief. 

I then added: “I’ll take the money, but I don’t want the man 

either.” 

She was stunned. 

With that, I walked out of the venue. 

Julian didn’t hesitate and chased after me. 

We returned to the home we had shared for seven years. 

The family portrait was still hanging on the living room wall. 

Coming home from work and seeing it used to make me feel 

warm. 

Now, it felt like a knife carving into my heart. 

Julian approached me and tried to put his arm around me, apologizing sincerely: 

“It won’t happen again. Just this once.” 

I pushed his arm away: 

“Don’t touch me!” I shouted so loud that my head and throat 

throbbed with pain. 

My stomach churned with nausea. 

Ever since I found out he had been cheating for over six years, 

he seemed as disgusting as a maggot in a sewer. 

Julian didn’t dare come closer, but he kept begging for 

forgiveness: 

“Babe, I’m so sorry. I just lost my way.” 

“I promise I’ll cut her off. We’ll be a happy family again, okay?” My in–laws returned. 

My mother–in–law said with a hint of apology: “Ellie, I know this has hurt you a lot.” 

“But there was nothing I could do. That child is Julian’s after 

all.” 

“I hope you won’t dwell on it. Just let life go back to normal.” 

My father–in–law added: “It’s all out in the open now, so let’s 

not mention it again. Just move on.” 

They spoke so casually. 

As if my refusal to forgive and accept was the real problem. 

I glared at Julian and informed him with total certainty: 

“We are getting a divorce! Julian, you make me sick!” He 

turned red with desperation. “Tell me, what can I do to make you forgive me?” 

“Whatever it takes, I’ll do it for you.” 

Hatred surged in me, and I blurted out: 

“Then go to hell! Just go to hell!” I collapsed, my voice breaking from the screaming. 

Julian froze. 

He saw only disgust and hatred in my eyes. 

He finally realized I would never forgive him. 

I went into the bedroom and locked the door. 

Leaning against the door, I saw our wedding photo on the wall –Julian smiling as he held me from behind. I couldn’t stand it 

for another second. 

I stepped onto the bed with my shoes on, took the photo down, and used scissors to stab his face a thousand times. 

The deeper the love once was, the stronger the hatred now, tearing my heart apart. 

Julian’s voice kept drifting through the door, trying to soothe 

me. 

Once I calmed down, I began packing my things. 

I texted my lawyer, stating I wanted a divorce.
