The Family Group Chat Without Me, The Truth They Hid Chapter 06

The Family Group Chat Without Me, The Truth They Hid Chapter 06

Everyone knew how much Cyra cared about her family.

Years ago, when Cyra’s mother was mistakenly diagnosed with kidney failure, the doctors said she needed a matching donor as soon as possible.

Cyra went to the hospital alone and quietly got tested.

When the results came back, she smiled at Mom

“I’m a match. Take mine.”

“Why are you crying? You’re my mom.”

Back in middle school, someone had sent Cyra an anonymous message as a prank, claiming they had kidnapped Mirelle.

The message said that if Cyra wanted her sister back alive, she had to come alone and take her place.

Cyra went straight to the abandoned warehouse named in the message without telling anyone.

Afterward, all she said was, “She’s my sister. If I don’t save her, who will?”

Even when Mrs. Roarke had been critically ill and Wrenford Memorial was so overwhelmed they couldn’t get her a bed, Cyra had sat outside the ER with her medical records for three hours, begging someone to help.

Everyone knew exactly what kind of person Cyra was.

That was why they had dared to mess with her so freely.

Why they had humiliated her, scared her, and taken their “jokes” this far.

They all believed the same thing.

Cyra was softhearted and could never let go of the people she loved. No matter how badly they hurt her, she

could never bring herself to walk away for good.

All they ever had to do was back down a little, apologize, say a few nice things.

Eventually, she would get over it on her own and come back.

But now…

Mom took the estrangement letter with shaking hands.

The moment she saw Cyra’s familiar handwriting and signature at the bottom, panic finally broke through.

“Cyra… Why is she taking this so far?”

Tamsin hurried over to steady her, though her own voice had lost its confidence.

“Mrs. Bellmont, don’t panic. She’s just angry. Give her a couple of days and she’ll be fine.”

“Besides, Stellan still has her passport. She can’t get very far without it…”

She stopped halfway through the sentence.

Stellan’s face changed.

As if something had suddenly clicked, he turned sharply toward the jacket in the trash.

He crossed the room, grabbed it, shoved a hand into the inside pocket, then checked every other pocket.

Empty.

Cyra’s passport was gone. So was the cash.

Nothing was left.

Stellan went completely still as the color slowly drained from his face.

His sudden reaction startled Tamsin.

After a moment, she reluctantly pulled out her phone and called Cyra.

It rang and rang.

No answer.

Tamsin tried again, her frown deepening.

Cyra had gotten angry with her family before. She had even threatened to break up with Stellan before.

But she had never ignored Tamsin’s calls.

Years ago, when Tamsin was being bullied, Cyra had promised her that no matter what happened, she would

always be there when Tamsin needed her.

For the first time, she felt a flicker of panic.

Tamsin quickly typed out a message.

[Cyra Bellmont, where the hell did you go? Everyone’s worried about you. Why do you ALWAYS have to make things harder for everyone?!]

The second she hit send, an alert appeared beneath it.

NOT DELIVERED.

Tamsin stared at the screen.

Everyone else pulled out their phones and tried too.

The same NOT DELIVERED notice appeared on every screen. Their calls wouldn’t go through either.

Cyra’s mother finally lost what little composure she had left.

Her voice started to shake

“She left that letter… left the family group chat… broke up with Stellan… and now she’s blocked every single one of us…”

“Cyra… what is she trying to do?”

Every face in the room changed.
