The Failed Assassination by Jasmine Flower Chapter 07

When Enzo said this, Luis lit up.

He nodded nonstop. “Yes, you’re right. This is nothing but a family matter. Once I get back, I’ll handle this.

It won’t become a problem for you.”

I watched this play out with a cold eye.

Enzo had become the don back in the day through killing and bloodshed. It was impossible that he could intervene in his underling’s private matters.

It was obvious that there was a hidden meaning in Enzo’s words, but Luis could not see that. Luis was still expressing his utter loyalty, but Enzo did not want to hear it anymore.

“I’ve already investigated the assassination attempt. This has nothing to do with any of you, and you shouldn’t get involved. However, Luis must be punished for abandoning his post.”

Luis shrunk back. His mouth opened and closed as he tried to say something. However, he must have feared that Enzo would pursue the matter even further and thus kept silent. From what I could tell, Luis did not think that he had made a mistake at all. Instead, he thought that he still had a chance to make a

comeback.

Enzo shut that down, destroying any hope Luis had.

“From now on, Luis will be stripped of his position and be placed under house arrest. Without my say so, no one is to let him out. Any decisions for the Marconi family will be made by the woman to whom the family owes a debt-Cara Amato.

“Cara, you need not take orders from anyone except me. Similarly, you will have nothing to fear from anyone. I will reopen your father’s case in court and have things settled there. Before that, however, I don’t wish to hear any more scandal from your household. Do you understand?”

I looked up and met Enzo’s gaze. He was helping me. He was telling me that I could punish Luis in whatever way I wanted as long as he did not die from it. That was because this matter was a private family matter, not an official one.

I was overjoyed and quickly thanked Enzo.

“Thank you, Don Tomasi!”

Enzo left hurriedly. In the blink of an eye, only me, Luis, Bianca, and some servants were left in the ward.

Luis immediately got up once Enzo left. He did not look like he felt guilty at all. Instead, he started

chastising me.

“You’re still my woman even if you became Don Tomasi’s savior. It’s your duty to take care of me and maintain the household. Get cooking now. I need to recover for a while. I will name the baby and add him

to the family’s records. After all, it died because of Don Tomasi.”

Luis was washing his hands of it all as if he had done nothing wrong. He was even claiming my accomplishment as his. I scoffed internally. How could I have felt bad for such a wicked person when he tried to plead with me? It had always been a ploy for me to serve myself up on a platter to be slaughtered.

Bianca quickly went back to her usual antics. She leaned daintily against Luis.

Both hate and resentment shone within her from having to demean herself so much before me today.

“That’s right, Mrs. Marconi. If Luis wasn’t the head of security, you would never have had the chance to save Dom Tomasi. Don’t think you can use your new status to be disrespectful to Luis now.”

Luis nodded in agreement.

I felt utterly disgusted looking at them both. They were in so much trouble, but they were still acting all high and mighty. I clapped my hands, and the bodyguards came forward and dragged both of them to the mansion Enzo gifted me.
