The Failed Assassination by Jasmine Flower Chapter 06

Despite being exhausted, I dragged myself off the bed and knelt before Enzo as well. I looked up at him with tears in my eyes.

“It was Luis who came to my father and proposed marriage. My father did not want this marriage for me. It was Luis who begged for three days at our door before getting my father’s approval. That matter was a huge one, and the story is still making rounds today. You can have someone check if you don’t believe me on this.

“As for my father’s case, I know that it was Luis who embezzled those funds. He hid the money in my father’s study and exposed the embezzlement. That’s how he got Bianca’s brother, Boris, a promotion.”

My voice was raspy with emotion, and I could not help glaring at Luis with hate. The person who loved me most in the world, except my long-deceased mother, was my father. The day he was imprisoned, I discovered that I was pregnant.

It was because of this that Luis had put me under house arrest.

I thought that he loved me and did not want me to be sad upon seeing my father imprisoned. It was only

near the end of my life in the previous timeline that I found out it was Luis who had framed him. Luis

was afraid that I would find clues in the study and reopen the case for my father.

Luis had told me that, despite knowing the whole truth, my father never tried to escape or expose Luis. He did that because Luis was my husband and because he wanted me to have a stable life.

Even so, I was not able to fulfill his wish for me and survive.

My heart ached. Even kneeling on the floor, I was shaking nonstop.

“You said I stole your communication device. If I did, then why didn’t I activate it? Where is it now? What

proof do you have?”

When Enzo heard this, he recalled how I had shielded him behind me without any concern for myself. A look of pity crossed his face for a second. He was about to pull me upright when Bianca threw herself to her knees. She had delicate features that made people sympathize with her easily. When she cried,

everyone felt her pain.

Right then, she slowly crawled toward Enzo.

“Luis is right. We grew up together, and I’ve always seen him as my own older brother.

“When Mrs. Marconi got pregnant, I prayed for her safety in church every week. Mrs. Marconi always thought that I had bad intentions toward her and used the baby to accuse me of all things. I couldn’t handle it. Mrs. Marconi, would it help if I died? Would you get back together with Luis?”

As she spoke, Bianca suddenly got up and rushed toward the wall. There was a lot of momentum behind it, powered by her speed. It was clear that she was intent on dying as mentioned.
My heart skipped a beat.

If Bianca died, I would be in even more trouble. No matter how bad I had it, Luis would make my life even worse. All he would do was make sure I did not die from his attention.

After all, the communication device had yet to be found. If Bianca died because of me, well I could never beat a dead woman’s accusations.

Luis clearly understood this as well.

Thus, he did not stop Bianca even though he could reach out and grab her. He stayed rooted to the spot and simply yelled.

Luckily, Enzo’s bodyguards were skilled. An alert bodyguard rushed forward and blocked Bianca with his own body. They both let out yelps of pain and fell to the floor.

With Bianca having failed in her suicide attempt, Enzo had his men apprehend her and dump her in a corner. She lay there limply.

Luis started to panic.

Enzo rubbed his temples with frustration.

“You each have your own story. I have no means of settling this issue. When it comes down to it, these

matters are your private, family issues.”
