The Dress Swap That Exposed Her Perfect Lie Chapter 15

Both their expressions turned heavy and dark.

Vera, seeing this, slipped around the crowd and came over with a concerned look. “What’s going on? Are you guys still fighting with Hazel?”

“Vera.” Liam lifted his head and fixed his gaze on her. “That white sundress. Whose was it?”

Before she could answer, he kept going. “Hazel offered to swap with you. She bought your stuff. She washed it clean. And you let us tear her apart without saying one damn word?”

Vera’s smile froze. Her eyes flicked to Ethan for help.

Ethan’s face was even grimmer.

After a long pause, Vera realized neither of them was on her side anymore. She threw her hands up, pure

venom.

“So what? If you idiots hadn’t been so easy to manipulate, I couldn’t have played you with a few little lines.”

“And you, Ethan-you actually thought I was the girl feeding the stray cats with you? Newsflash: that was Hazel. I was just too hot that day, so she went to get me ice cream, and that’s when I ran into you.”

She spat out “You’re both morons,” and stalked off.

I stood up. “I’m done here.”

When I got outside, the kid was asleep in the car. Zane’s long, lean fingers were tapping the steering wheel. He was on a voice call with his other hand, and I caught a snippet.

“Are you insane? What kidnapper? I’m the one who took your son. Chill. I have my reasons.”
