The Don’s Throwaway Wife Chapter 08

The Don’s Throwaway Wife Chapter 08

For the next three days, Dante showed up at my hospital ward like clockwork.

He leaned on a cane, wrapped head to toe in bandages, putting on a pathetic display.

Hospital security dragged him out within a minute every time.

I felt zero sympathy for him.

The frostbite left permanent damage on my hands.

I’d never play piano again, never dance like I used to.

Luca burned with rage.

“He still refuses to sign the divorce papers. After everything he’s done, he has the nerve to keep

coming here?”

“If he won’t sign willingly, there are other ways,” I told him.

Late one night, Dante snuck past the security detail.

“Elara!”

I jolted awake. He sat on the edge of my bed, clutching my hands tight in his.

“Please, Elara. Forgive me.”

“I only sent you out there to teach you a lesson. I thought you’d come crawling back on your own. I sent men searching for you-they couldn’t track you down.”

“I sent Mia away, I swear it. I’ll never look at another woman again. Let’s start over from scratch.”

I stared at him blankly.

“Dante. Why did you need to teach me a lesson?”

He hesitated, opening his mouth then clamping it shut again.

“You threw me out of the house and left my suitcase locked inside.”

“I was stuck outside in a blizzard with nothing but a thin dress. Do you realize I almost died out

there?”

“I had no cash, no ID, no way to buy food or rent a room.”

“Do you know how I survived? I huddled under an overpass next to a dead homeless man, using his

tattered blanket for warmth, sleeping beside his corpse for two whole days.”

Tears welled up in his eyes.

“I’m sorry, truly sorry, Elara.”

I pulled my hands free from his grip.

“Sign the divorce papers, Dante.”

“Let this end. It’s better for everyone.”

He sank to one knee, raw pain carved into every line of his face.

“No. I won’t sign those papers.”

“Elara, please. Give me just one more chance. I swear I’ll change.”

I sighed and gestured for the guards to come in.

They dragged him out of the room.
