The Comments Told Me I Was Carrying His Only Heirs Chapter 09

After dinner, Josiah drove me back to the penthouse.

Following that day, he didn’t contact me again.

Of course, I wasn’t going to be a nuisance and reach out to him either.

The comments revealed that the ML and the FL had just gotten engaged, which left him feeling completely miserable.

Some even suggested I should use this chance to swoop in and comfort him.

I didn’t have the guts for that, and besides, I preferred to let people deal with their own fates.

One evening, a month later, Josiah suddenly sent me a text message.

Josiah: [I need to discuss something with you tonight.]

Me: [Alright.]

A little after eight, Josiah arrived at the penthouse.

He looked at me, a trace of hesitation in his voice, “My mother thinks I should start bonding with the babies as early as possible, so I’m planning to move in.”

“Don’t worry. I’ve rented the apartment downstairs. I won’t disrupt your current routine. I’ll just need one hour every evening to do some prenatal education with the babies.”

After a brief moment of surprise, I gave him a warm smile and nodded, “Sure!”

Josiah let out a quiet sigh of relief, “Thank you.”

When Josiah said he wanted to do prenatal education, he wasn’t joking. He pulled out a copy of Forbes and started reading it out loud with absolute seriousness.

Forget the babies, even I was starting to doze off from listening to it.

I let out a soft yawn, my eyes watering slightly.

Josiah looked up from the magazine, “Is this too boring?”

Uh, how was I supposed to answer that?

After a moment of thought, I offered an embarrassed smile, “I don’t really understand much of it.”

Josiah closed the magazine and glanced at the watch on his left wrist, “It’s about time. I’ll head out now. Get some rest.”

Blinking back my sleepy tears, I nodded, “Okay.”

It wasn’t until I had crawled back into my bedroom that I finally heard the front door open and click shut.

An inexplicable wave of relief washed over me.

The moment I pulled out my phone, a text message from an unknown number popped up on the screen.

[I’ve already sent him over to you. Do your part and don’t waste the opportunity!]

I blinked in confusion before it clicked.

With a tone like that, it was undoubtedly Mrs. Carrington.

Just as I was wondering what her angle was, the comments popped up to clear my confusion.

[Josiah’s mom accepted the extra as her daughter-in-law within seconds of finding out that the night at the motel was a total accident.]

[Not only did she trick her son into marrying the extra, but she even made up an excuse to force him to spend an hour with the extra every day. You can tell she’s anxious.]

[If I were his mom, I’d also rather have an ordinary daughter-in-law than watch my son act like a desperate puppy for another man’s wife.]

[Mrs. Carrington is at her wit’s end…]

[Hahaha!]

So that was it.

But I simply didn’t have the courage or the capability to pull that off.

I carefully weighed my words before typing out a reply.

Me: [Mrs. Carrington, I don’t think I can do that.]

Mrs. Carrington: [Useless!]

Me: [I’m sorry.]

Mrs. Carrington was probably too infuriated by my lack of ambition to reply, because she didn’t text back after that.
