The Comments Said the Heartthrob Confessed Wrong, So I Rejected Him Chapter 04

Brynn’s phone screen stayed lit until 3 AM.

It was Saturday. I figured she’d sleep till noon.

But the moment I got up to head to my shift, she was awake too.

She pushed herself up on her pillow, eyes fixed on me.

It made my skin prickle.

Didn’t we clear up the misunderstanding yesterday?

What did I do now?

Maybe the whole Griffin thing had her too wired. The other two roommates stirred awake too.

With everyone up, I remembered what those comments said about the alt account.

That account was my old gaming profile. My cousin set it up for me after finals.

Once college started, I was too swamped with classes and shifts to use it.

So I lent it to Brynn.

But last night, when I tried to log in, the password was changed.

I turned to her. “Brynn. Can I have my account back? My cousin needs it.”

She looked down at me from her bed, taking her sweet time. “Fine. I’ll give it back tonight.”

I nodded.

It wasn’t urgent. And Griffin was with her now anyway.

She wouldn’t still be using my name to chat up guys, right?

I opened my closet and started changing out of my pajamas.

Brynn’s voice cut through.

“Sage. That shirt I gave you? Don’t wear it anymore.”

Honestly? I wasn’t planning to.

I’d already washed it and hung it in the laundry room last night.

She smiled, all syrupy sweet, like she was basking in her new relationship.

“Don’t take it personally, Sage. It’s just—last night Griffin said he doesn’t like other people using my things. He made me ask for it back. I couldn’t say no.”

“Even if you washed it, I’d never wear it again. Just toss it in the trash for me, okay?”

I muttered a “fine,” grabbed my bag, and headed for the door.

I didn’t even make it out of the building before Brynn came flying after me.

She yanked me back inside like a madwoman. She hadn’t even put on shoes.

The door slammed shut. My roommates stared.

Brynn forced a laugh, awkward and strained.

“So… Griffin’s downstairs. With breakfast. For me. But I’m not wearing makeup.”

“Sage… could you go get it for me?”
