The CEO And His Ambitious Model Chapter 05

The CEO And His Ambitious Model Chapter 05

After doing a nice, delicate makeup look, I knocked on the study door.

A short, sharp “Come in” came from inside right away.

When I pushed the door open, Theo was working on business stuff, didn’t even look up.

It took me a lot of courage to walk up to his desk.

“Theo…”

There was only a desk lamp on in the study, and he finally looked up.

I twisted the hem of my dress, looking him straight in the eye.

“Do you think I’m good enough to join the upper class social circle now?”

Theo was quiet for a long moment, then swallowed a little.

“…I guess so.”

“That’s all you came to ask me, this late at night?”

My cheeks heated up, and I forced myself to keep going.

“I just wanted to ask… do you think I’m ready to marry an Old Money person now?”

Another long silence, then he stared at my face and gave a vague answer. “Maybe.”

I was kind of surprised. Theo hadn’t just flat-out rejected me.

If it was before, he’d probably just throw a cold line at me like “Old money doesn’t marry for sympathy”.

Like I’d been encouraged, I blinked my shiny eyes, and asked the question I’d been wanting to ask the most.

“Then… do you think Will and I make a good couple?”

Theo’s gentle gaze froze right there.

“So the person you want to marry… is Will?”

I nodded, a little shy.

I looked down and started rambling:

“I know I’m not good enough yet, but if I could be with Will, I’d work hard to improve myself, I’d never drag him down…”

Suddenly, a pair of shoes in my line of sight cut me off.

Theo had stood up, and was standing right in front of me, before I knew it.

He was almost 6’3″, and that intimidating, commanding aura around him made me step back without thinking.

Theo stepped forward again.

In the dim, yellow light of the study.

I stepped back, he stepped closer.

It was like we were playing cat and mouse.

It kept going until my back hit the cold wall, and I couldn’t step back anymore.

I got a little annoyed, and tears pricked at my eyes.

“Theo, what are you doing?”

Before I could finish, something even more confusing happened.

I watched as Theo reached out his slender, jade-like fingers, and started playing with the pearl necklace around my neck.

I froze completely, my brain going totally blank.

The danmaku was just full of 【?】

【Doesn’t the male lead have severe germophobia? Earlier in the novel, he wouldn’t even let the female lead touch him! That’s why he spent so long chasing her later! The only time he hugged the side character was because he was drugged! But he’s totally sober right now!】

【Male lead… have you already fallen for the side character?!】

【What love? Theo’s just mad that the side character is so sneaky, daring to set her sights on Will! Haven’t you noticed his eyes are red with anger?】

【I think that’s right! The male lead is probably just thinking about whether he can use this necklace to strangle the side character.】

Me: “…”

That’s a little extreme, isn’t it.

That weird, quiet atmosphere lasted for almost half a minute.

Finally, Theo spoke. He said:

“That necklace around your neck? It’s twenty-seven thousand dollars.”

“That dress you’re wearing? Thirty-nine thousand.”

I blinked, stunned.

Ever since I chose the plan to break into high society, the company’s packaging for me had shifted from runway stuff to clothes, jewelry, skincare, all that.

All this time, I’d just used whatever the company gave me.

I never thought it was this expensive.

Was Theo saying this because he wanted me to pay him back for all the money he spent on me all these years?

I pouted and said, “I can’t pay you back.”

He didn’t even change his expression, just kept rubbing the necklace, focused.

“Who said you had to pay me back?”

“Remember the first line on your plan document?”

I thought hard, trying to remember.

“The two words I highlighted in red. ‘Old Money’.”

Theo lifted his lips slowly, a little smirk.

“Then is your comprehension bad or something?”

“What does Will have to do with ‘Old Money’?”

My face turned bright red with embarrassment. “Will is really good too! I could just suffer with him for a couple years, and later he’ll definitely…”

Theo looked down, grabbed my chin, and cut me off hard.

“Mia, the world is already unfair to girls. Don’t be stupid enough to gamble your precious youth on whether a man has a good heart.”

He seemed to think of something, and stared straight at me with his dark eyes.

“Besides, the biggest Old Money family in New York is right in front of you. Are you really that unambitious?”

Before I could even process what he meant by that.

Theo’s phone buzzed twice.

Danmaku floated past in real time:

【Male lead look! It’s a message from Eleanor! She’s using work as an excuse, but she just wants to chat with you!】

【Finally! The female lead finally got it! She’s not just working all day every day anymore!】

Right. In the novel, the male and female lead are destined to be together.

How could I have had that ridiculous thought that Theo was hitting on me?

If it was a delusion, then I needed to correct it.

So I turned and slipped right past him, running out.

“I’m going back to my room to sleep!”

“Good night, Theo!”
