The Alpha’s Unwanted Mate Chapter 06

The Alpha’s Unwanted Mate Chapter 06

“How’s Luna Isla? The ceremony’s a mess, Daphne’s still wearing the mate dress and refuses to leave…”

“Cancel it all! Cancel everything!” Asher roared as he hung up the phone, but it rang again.

This time, it was the post-surgery follow-up call from the pack hospital.

“We can’t reach Ophelia. Please, Alpha, pay attention to her bleeding situation.”

“When did this happen?”

“Just yesterday, Ophelia was brought in. She was exposed, her abdomen was severely injured, and the pup didn’t survive.”

Asher collapsed, losing all his strength, sitting down on the floor.

Ophelia’s teaching notes fell to the ground.

Asher numbly flipped through them, greedily devouring the pages.

Three years ago, when he first became the Alpha of the pack, facing doubts from the elders and the pack, it was Ophelia who voluntarily stepped in to help him reorganize the pack. She stayed up late with him, drafting reforms for the pack.

She was always the first to arrive at the training grounds, the last to leave, pouring everything she had into his ambitions.

And how did he repay her?

Asher painfully closed his eyes.

Memories of Ophelia’s desperate eyes when parents attacked her, and her pale face after being tortured with toys all night…

“What have I done…” He was consumed with regret.

In the next week, Asher became a hollow shell.

He searched every place Ophelia might have gone—the training grounds, the flower sea, her favorite café.

He even contacted all her friends and classmates, but found nothing.

He stayed up all night in the pack house, hoping maybe Ophelia would come back tonight.

He was desperate to give her a big hug and apologize.

One night, a week later, the doorbell rang.

Asher jolted up, rushing to the door, but froze the moment he opened it.

Daphne stood outside, eyes red-rimmed.

“Asher…” she ran into his arms. “Why haven’t you been answering my calls? I’ve been so worried!”

Asher reflexively pushed her away. “My mom woke up.”

Every word felt like it was being squeezed out from between his teeth, “Three years ago, you deliberately sped up and crashed into us, didn’t you?”

Daphne’s legs buckled, almost kneeling on the ground.

She grabbed Asher’s sleeve, tears flooding her eyes.

“Asher, listen to me! I was so scared. Luna Isla said she’d expose my fake identity and send you to the North for Alpha training. I couldn’t bear being separated from you.”

Asher yanked her hand away, disgust written all over his face.

Daphne hysterically screamed. “I just wanted to scare her! I’ve liked you since we were kids, you promised I’d be your Luna! What’s Ophelia? She’s just a cheap slut trying to steal what’s mine!”

At those words, Asher’s eyes turned dangerous.

He grabbed Daphne’s chin, squeezing hard enough to make her cry out.

“If I hear you speak ill of Ophelia again, I’ll shut your fucking mouth up forever.”

Daphne froze in fear.

Just then, Asher’s phone rang.

“Alpha, we’ve got a problem!” Kieran, the pack elder, sounded urgent.

“The pack member who made a scene last time comes to us. She checked the home surveillance and found that the shewolf who seduced her son wasn’t Ophelia, but Daphne!”

Asher’s gaze turned slowly to Daphne, disgust flooding his eyes.

“Kieran, strip Daphne of all her duties right away, launch a full investigation, and restore Ophelia’s reputation. Tell the pack, Ophelia is my Luna.”

After hanging up the phone, Asher looked at Daphne’s tear-streaked face and suddenly felt how absurd it all was.

This was the “precious” one he had been protecting, at the expense of Ophelia!

“Get out.” He pointed to the door of the pack house. “From now on, don’t ever let me see you again.”

Daphne laughed hysterically.

“Asher! Do you think Ophelia will forgive you? You let her be humiliated in front of the whole pack, let your friends abuse her to abortion. You know full well what they did to her! She’ll never forgive you!”

Asher felt his heart stabbed with a sharp pain.

“Fuck off!”

Three months passed in the blink of an eye.

Across the ocean, I was preparing for the upcoming warrior training.

The nightmarish events from three months ago—the abortion pain, the public humiliation—were pushed aside by the busy schedule.

During a break, Tristan handed me a cup of coffee.

I took it, my fingers brushing against his hand by accident.
