The Alpha’s Unwanted Mate Chapter 05

The Alpha’s Unwanted Mate Chapter 05

Daphne sat in front of the vanity, a smug smile on her lips.

“Daphne, you look amazing today. You outshine Ophelia a lot!”

Gamma Leo fawned over her, handing her the mate brooch, eyeing her up and down.

“Of course,” Daphne flaunted the 14-carat pink diamond on her finger. “Asher bought this for me. It’s way more expensive than Ophelia’s pathetic bonding ring.”

Asher’s friends gathered around her, grinning.

“Daphne, in our eyes, you’ve always been Asher’s true mate. When you become the Luna of Fullmoon Pack, don’t forget to get us more hunting lands!”

“Yeah, Alpha finally mated with the right one!”

Daphne smiled complacently.

She stood up, adjusted her dress, and strutted out of the vanity room.

But when she entered the pack chapel, she found there were hardly any guests left.

“Where’s Alpha?” She frowned, looking around but didn’t see Asher.

Kieran, with a complex expression, replied, “Daphne, Alpha got a call and went to the pack hospital. He asked me to wait here and tell Ophelia when she arrives.”

“He… went to the pack hospital? Why?” Daphne’s voice trembled uncontrollably.

“His mom woke up. It’s a miracle. She’s been in a vegetative state for three years, but she made it through.”

Daphne’s smile froze.

Asher rushed to the hospital at full speed.

“Mom!” His voice was hoarse, his eyes red, “You finally woke up…”

Luna Isla’s gaze landed on him. She paused for a moment, “Asher, why are you wearing a mate suit?”

Asher opened his mouth, then whispered, “Today is my bonding ceremony.”

Luna Isla’s expression turned grim. “I don’t approve of Daphne being your Luna. It doesn’t matter what you say.”

Asher sighed in relief and smiled. “Mom, you’ve been in a coma for three years. I’m bonding with Ophelia.”

Her eyes lit up, and a smile appeared on her face.

Ophelia was the young she-wolf she’d brought into the pack, the one who always brought her brownies, who had grown into a warrior she was proud of.

“Where’s Ophelia? Why isn’t she here?”

Asher’s throat tightened. He didn’t know how to answer.

Luna Isla flipped through the photos from the ceremony, her face turning serious.

“Why is Daphne wearing a mate dress?”

Asher hesitated, then struggled to speak,

“Mom, Daphne saved you. She said she wanted to be a bridesmaid just once. I couldn’t refuse. I didn’t want to hurt Ophelia…”

Luna Isla’s face went pale as she slapped the bouquet from the bedside. Her voice cracked.

“You’re an idiot! Asher, you’ve been tricked! Daphne caused the accident!”

Asher froze, his body stiffening.

“It’s impossible…” he mumbled, “Daphne clearly said…”

Luna Isla sneered, “She said? Do you believe everything she says? Did you know she falsified her identity to join the pack? Did you know about her sluttish past with the former pack elder?”

Asher’s mind buzzed, fragments of memories piecing together.

There were only two cars during the accident: Luna Isla’s and Daphne’s, but he hadn’t noticed.

When he had a fever, Ophelia stayed up late with him when he was on a drip.

But the next morning, it was Daphne in his arms.

When Ophelia was slandered by parents for seducing male students, Daphne was the one who egged them on…

“I need to find Ophelia.” Asher suddenly stood up, “Mom, I need to find her.”

When Asher burst into the pack house, it was dark.

“Ophelia?” He fumbled for the lights, the living room empty.

On the coffee table, there was only a bond-breaking deal. Ophelia had left nothing else for him.

Shaking, Asher flipped through the papers, realizing they had both signed the deal!

A wave of dizziness hit him. He staggered and leaned against the couch, his gaze sweeping over the home that had once been warm.

Ophelia’s favorite rose pot was gone.

The punching bag she used for training was gone. Even the silly matching bear slippers she loved were missing.

Frantic, he rushed to the bedroom.

The closet, which once held her clothes, was now empty.

Her vanity was filled with the jewelry he had bought her, clearly discarded by her.

“No, this can’t be.” Asher collapsed on the bed.

His phone rang suddenly.

He nearly lunged for it, “Ophelia?”

“Alpha, it’s me,” Callen’s voice came through.
