The Alpha Who Killed Me Now Calls Me Mother Chapter 07 The Children That Should Have Been His

The report stated it plainly: “Five weeks pregnant. Twins.” Craig’s hand stopped with his wineglass halfway to his lips.

He stared at the report for a long time without speaking.

When he finally found his voice, it came out unsteady. “Is this real? They’re ours? Darling, this is

incredible.”

His normally severe expression softened, and an open, radiant smile transformed his face.

A second later, he took out his phone and posted. [My Luna is pregnant. New Alpha heirs are on their way.]

The front doors opened soon afterward, and Ashton strode in furiously. His face nearly contorted when he looked at my abdomen.

I rose with a smile and lifted my glass of nonalcoholic sparkling wine. “Perfect timing, Ashton. Come celebrate the newest members of our family.”

His eyes remained fixed on my belly, his jaw clenched hard. “Evelyn!” Before he could say more, Craig cut him off. “You will address her as Luna Stone. She is your mother.”

Ashton’s face darkened completely, and fury shook his body. Watching defeat settle into his features brought a deep, lingering ease to my chest.

Of course, he was not ready to surrender. The next day, he reluctantly took Jane to yet another hospital, hoping someone would identify the problem.

The result disappointed him again: an Alpha fertility disorder.

The doctors recommended assisted reproductive treatment. For the next several weeks, Ashton and Jane traveled constantly between the hospital and Mooncrest Court.

Long courses of medication and hormone treatment began to alter Jane’s body.

Humiliation over his condition made Ashton increasingly violent and unstable.

Two months of effort changed nothing. One afternoon, while I watched an old movie downstairs, another screaming match erupted above me.

“You can’t even get pregnant. What good are you?”

“We could… we could try another hospital.”

“Shut up!” Ashton snapped. “I must have been out of my mind to choose you.”

Jane burst into tears and reached for his arm. He grabbed her hair instead and hurled her to the floor.

I watched through the crack in the door and felt nothing.

Only an heir formally recognized by the previous Alpha King could receive the Moon Goddess’s blessing

d command the loyalty of Mooncrest Realm’s royal pack.

Ashton had no leverage left. He had assumed being Craig’s only child guaranteed the succession, but Craig had never formally acknowledged him as heir.

Without the children I had once borne to prove his fertility, he had become exactly what everyone now saw: an incomplete Alpha.

A few days later, he tried to stop me in the hall, but I walked past him. He found me again while I was sitting in the sun in the front courtyard and lowered his voice.

“Evelyn.”

I did not look up.

“I’ve thought about everything. You’re the woman I truly love.”

I raised my eyes. “Get away from me.”

He crouched so our faces were level. “You were supposed to be my wife, Evelyn. We were supposed to have children together. Twins. Those two little Alphas should have been ours.”

I studied him. “Do you know why I didn’t come to relieve your rut this time?”

His pupils contracted sharply.

I smiled without warmth. “Because I came back too. You murdered me and our children for Jane, so now prove it. Show me who destroys your happiness when I’m no longer there to blame.”

Ashton shook his head in sudden panic. “No. No, I understand now. You’re the one I really love. I can change, Evelyn. I was wrong, and I’ll make it up to you. I’ll treat you well. Just carry my children again, and I swear I’ll love them this time…”

He suddenly caught my hand and stared at my stomach. “Those babies should be mine.”

He tried to haul me upright. An instant later, his body flew sideways into the fireplace. He crumpled to the floor, unable to rise. I spun around and found Craig behind me, his expression glacial.

“What were you doing to my Luna?” Craig snapped his fingers. The Betas behind him forced Ashton flat against the floor. “Lock him in the basement.”
