The Alpha Ruined My Sister’s Life Last Life Chapter 09

The Alpha Ruined My Sister’s Life Last Life Chapter 09

Kaelen moved first.

He grabbed Seraphine by the arm and yanked her close, jaw clenched.

“Shut your mouth.” His voice was low, but every wolf heard him. “I have a fated mate at home. Three kids. Whatever mess you’ve made up in your head, keep it there and don’t say another word.”

The threat in his eyes was real.

Seraphine flinched, then did what she always did. She turned to the one man she’d counted on never turning

her away.

She spun toward Draven, tears streaming down her face.

“Draven, I’m sorry. Everything I did before was because I was jealous. I couldn’t stand seeing her with you.”

She reached for him.

“You know I’ve always had feelings for you. Please…”

Draven didn’t move or say a word.

His hand was still holding mine.

Then everyone caught the scent.

Kaelen’s scent was buried deep in Seraphine’s skin. It wasn’t from casual contact or brushing past him. It was the kind of scent that only sank in after weeks, even months, of being intimate.

Seraphine’s eyes widened.

She knew exactly what everyone had just smelled.

What she’d been trying so hard to hide was out in the open now, and no amount of crying could cover it up.

Her legs gave out.

After walking miles through snow and rubble in those heels, then dealing with Kaelen denying her in front of everyone, her body finally gave up on her.

She grabbed his arm to steady herself.

One heel snapped, and she crumpled into the snow.

Kaelen tried to shake her off, but she clung to his sleeve, trembling all over.

The pack healer pushed through the crowd and crouched beside her.

She checked Seraphine’s pulse and eyes, then pressed a hand to her stomach.

A couple of minutes later, she looked up at Theron.

“She’s pregnant.”

Kaelen’s jaw locked.

He said nothing.

Theron didn’t need him to.

He looked at Kaelen like he’d stepped in something disgusting.

“Strip him of control over Stonegate Pass, effective immediately. Put the transport routes under pack

control.”

He turned to one of his officials.

“Notify his home pack. Have his registered mate and children brought here within a week.”

Then he faced Kaelen again.

“You hid your family, abused your authority, and slept with a woman young enough to be your daughter. Your council position is suspended pending final review.”

Kaelen opened his mouth.

One look from Theron shut him up.

The fallout came fast.

Three days later, Kaelen’s fated mate arrived with their three half-grown kids, furious enough to blow up a

mountain.

The kids took one look at Seraphine and immediately decided she was the enemy.

Before the week was over, the yelling from Kaelen’s yard had become background noise for the whole pack.

The woman who’d pushed me off a cliff to steal a man was now stuck with one who’d denied her in public.

Ironic.

I was too busy to enjoy it.

Theron had made it clear that no other pack would take Seraphine in.

And with Kaelen’s child in her belly, the two of them were tied together whether they liked it or not

Once Stonegate Pass was taken from Kaelen and put under pack control, things ran better than before.

Shipments south doubled. The women’s crew grew, and Icefang’s treasury was fuller than anyone could

remember.

Even the elders started asking what I thought about business instead of telling me to stay out of it.

I should’ve felt great.

Mostly, I was just tired.

The good kind of tired you get from building something real.

Two weeks before the full moon, I loaded up the truck.

The last time I’d driven this road, I’d been alone, with a radiator hose held together by duct tape, oil all over

my hands, and diesel in my hair.

This time, Draven sat beside me with one arm draped over the back of my seat, his thumb tracing lazy circles

over my shoulder.

Funny.

The road felt a lot shorter with someone next to me.

By the time the sun went down, we reached Ironvale territory.

I pulled over and sat there without moving.

“Raven.”

“I’m fine.”

“You’ve been gripping the steering wheel for four minutes.”

“I said I’m fine.”

He reached over and peeled my fingers off the wheel one by one.

“If they yell or start throwing things, I go in first. Deal?”

“I’m not scared of my mom.”

“Your heartbeat says otherwise. I can feel it.”

“Fuck the mate bond. Worst feature ever.”

He laughed and opened the door.

“Come on. Before you chicken out.”
