The Alpha Ruined My Sister’s Life Last Life Chapter 08

The gossip about Seraphine and Kaelen spread faster than my Glacier Lily shipments.

I didn’t have time to care.

Business was booming. Orders had been coming in nonstop for three weeks, the southern supply chain was running smoothly, and the women were showing up before dawn to work.

Icefang hadn’t seen this much money in years.

Then the blizzard hit.

The drying racks were buried under snow. The warehouse collapsed. Three weeks’ worth of stored herbs

froze into mush.

I stood in front of the wreckage before sunrise, snow still coming down hard, and took in the mess.

It was a setback.

I’d rebuilt bigger operations from worse in my last life.

So I rolled up my sleeves and got to work.

By noon, half the crew had shown up without me calling. Bridget brought hot soup, and two older she-wolves

dragged a backup tarp out of the armory.

We cleared debris, saved whatever herbs we could, and moved them into the main house to keep drying.

My hands were torn up, my back ached, and my boots had been soaked through for hours.

Didn’t matter.

The orders still had to go out, and I wasn’t about to tell our southern buyers Icefang couldn’t handle a little

bad weather.

That was when Seraphine showed up.

She was wearing patent leather heels and a fur-trimmed coat, carefully making her way across the rubble.

In the middle of winter.

She’d walked two miles through snow and broken stone in those shoes just to stand in front of my collapsed

warehouse.

Her ankles were already swollen.

She didn’t seem to care.

“Well, well. If it isn’t Raven.”

She looked over the wreckage and smiled.

“Is it all gone? Want to know what a real Luna’s life looks like?”

She turned slowly, showing off the coat.

“I used to be stupid too. I thought an Alpha like Draven, someone who’d been to war, was the best a woman

could get.”

Her smile widened.

“Now I know better. A woman needs a man with real power. The kind who controls the things that actually

matter.”

She picked her way over the rubble like the blizzard was nothing more than an inconvenience.

I stood there in work boots with my sleeves rolled up, hauling ruined bundles of herbs with the rest of the

crew.

And she really thought she’d won.

“You walked two miles through the snow in stilettos just to tell me that?”

Her smile sharpened.

“Kaelen controls Stonegate Pass. Every shipment you send south has to go through his checkpoint.”

She stepped closer.

“One word from him, and your herbs rot in the warehouse.”

She glanced at the wreckage.

“Your little business is done, Raven. And tell Draven to forget about getting into the alliance council too.”

“So you traded one man’s name for another.”

I looked at her.

“First Draven. Now Kaelen. Do you ever do anything without a man backing you up?”

Her face went red.

“How dare you…”

“I dare plenty.”

I dropped the bundle in my hands.

“If you want to be some man’s trophy, that’s your business. But if you come after something I built for this pack, your sugar daddy’s mountain pass isn’t going to save you.”

“This trade project benefits the entire western alliance.”

A man’s voice came from behind us.

Every wolf nearby went quiet.

I turned.

Theron Grimwulf, Alpha of the Stormcrest pack and leader of the western alliance, stood at the edge of the clearing with several wolves behind him.

Draven was beside him, his expression unreadable.

They’d come to inspect the trade project.

Apparently, the Glacier Lily business had caught the alliance’s attention.

Good timing.

Theron looked at Seraphine.

“Who the hell are you to threaten this project?”

Then he turned toward Kaelen, who had somehow appeared nearby and now looked like he wanted to disappear.

“And you. What’s your relationship with this Omega?”

Kaelen went pale.

“Alpha Stormcrest, I have no idea why she’s dragging me into this. I have nothing to do with her. Absolutely nothing.”

Seraphine stared at him.

The color drained from her face.

“Kaelen…”

Her voice caught.

“How can you say that? I’m carrying your…”

She slapped a hand over her mouth.

The entire clearing went silent.
