The Alpha Ruined My Sister’s Life Last Life Chapter 06

The Alpha Ruined My Sister’s Life Last Life Chapter 06

Seraphine wasn’t done.

She pushed herself up, my handprint still red on her cheek, and turned to Draven.

“You knelt at my parents’ grave. You swore you’d protect me.” Her voice shook. “And now you’re just standing there while she hits me in front of the whole pack? What would my mom think? What would my dad say if

they saw this?”

The crowd stirred.

I could feel them starting to sway again. Dead parents who’d died as heroes were hard to argue with.

My stomach dropped.

“You’re right.”

Draven said it without hesitation.

“So let’s let the truth speak for itself.”

He tilted his head.

“Circe.”

The pack witch stepped out from the tree line, silent on her feet, carrying a leather pouch.

The crowd parted for her.

Circe opened her palm.

A Soulstone Fragment sat in the center, gray-white with silver running through its cracks.

She closed her fist.

The stone shattered, and silver light spread across the clearing like smoke.

Then the vision appeared.

Seraphine’s face came into view, perfectly clear.

Her fingers closed around my arm, and I heard her say, [If we both fall right now, whose name do you think he screams first?]

Then both hands slammed into my back, and I went over the cliff.

Every wolf in Icefang saw it.

The image hung in the air for a few seconds before fading.

Nobody spoke.

Seraphine had gone pale.

An older she-wolf cleared her throat.

“She lost her parents young… maybe we should be a little more forgiving.”

“Who was forgiving to my mate?”

Draven didn’t raise his voice, but everyone heard him.

“She drove here alone to a territory she’d never seen, to join a pack she’d never met. Then she was framed and pushed off a cliff.”

He looked around at the wolves gathered there.

“She clawed her way back up by herself, and the first thing she heard was this pack calling her a liar.”

Then he turned to Seraphine.

“Your parents gave their lives so other people could live. Their sacrifice deserves, respect. You don’t get to use it against me.”

He paused.

“The pack will still give you everything it owes you. But I’m done being your guardian.”

His expression hardened.

“Stop using their names to keep me tied to you.”

He took my hand, and we left.

Seraphine screamed something behind us.

I didn’t catch it.

Draven didn’t look back.

Back at the house, he sat me down, poured me something hot, then crouched in front of me and started cleaning the cuts on my hands.

His hands were steady.

“I let her get too close for too long.” He kept his eyes on my palm. “I thought protecting her was how I

honored her parents. I didn’t see what it was turning into.”

I watched him wrap the bandages around my hands.

For a man his size, he was surprisingly gentle.

When he finished, he didn’t let go.

His thumb ran along the edge of the bandage, then settled over the pulse in my wrist.

He stayed there for a moment, hunched in front of me with my hand between both of his.

Then he leaned forward.

His lips brushed the inside of my wrist and moved slowly up my arm, over my shoulder, toward my neck.

His breath warmed the skin below my ear.

“You sure about this?”

My voice came out rougher than I expected.

“Once you bite me, there’s no taking it back.”

He lifted his head, his mouth still close to my neck.

“When you bit me at the ceremony, you didn’t ask me first.”

A flush crept up my neck.

“That was different. I did it on impulse.”

“Then let me be impulsive too.”

His teeth sank into my skin.

Heat rolled through me.

It wasn’t pain.

It felt deeper than that, like something inside me had split open and connected to him.

I could feel him now.

Not just his breathing, but what was underneath it. His emotions were there too, carried through a bond that hadn’t existed a second ago.

So this was what a mate bond was supposed to feel like.

He rested his forehead against my shoulder.

My fingers tightened in the fabric at his lower back.

The bond between us was new and unfamiliar, but impossible to miss.

I caught his chin and tipped his face up.

“Seraphine or anyone else. If another woman ever tries to get between us, what happened on that cliff today is going to look polite.”

He laughed and caught my fist before I could punch his shoulder.

“Yes, Luna.”

His thumb rubbed over my knuckles.

“I can feel your heartbeat through the bond now. Can you stop being mad for one second and let me enjoy

this?”
