I tapped accept, turned on speakerphone, and set the phone on the table while I kept sorting experimental

data.

“Autumn! Where on earth have you run off to?” Marina’s shrill voice exploded through the room at once.

In the background, April’s impatient complaint drifted over the line. “We’ve been home seven days, and she

hasn’t posted a single thing in the family group. She didn’t even like the photos of my new bag. It’s bad

enough she couldn’t get into college-now she’s putting on airs.”

Seven days. It had taken them a full week back in Silverbay City just to notice one living person was missing

from their household.

“Speak up!” Marina roared. “Get home immediately. There are piles of unwashed laundry, and the floors

haven’t been cleaned.”

“I’m not coming back.” I watched the tactical model slowly render on my computer, my tone steady.

Silence stretched across the line for two heartbeats.

“What did you say?”

“I’ve enrolled at Hyperion University’s Alpha Leadership Academy. I won’t be returning to the Grey household

ever again.”

Marina let out a bitter laugh, as if I’d told her an absurd joke. “Hyperion University? Are you so consumed by

jealousy over your sisters’ acceptance to Silverbay University that you’ve lost your mind?”

Her conviction hardened as she kept talking. “You awakened your wolf last. You could never even hold a

stable A-Rank before adulthood. How could someone like you get into Hyperion’s Alpha Academy?”

“Autumn, I truly wonder how I gave birth to such a vain, deceitful daughter!”

I offered no explanation.

She had never attended a single one of my training sessions, nor had she laid eyes on my Wolf Trial results.

In her mind, I would always be that ordinary, quiet, worthless fourth child.

“Stay out there forever if you’re so determined,” she snapped. “Don’t set foot inside the Grey house again!”

The call ended with a violent click. I stared at the black screen, then dragged her number straight into my

block list.

Meanwhile, back at the Grey residence in Silverbay City, Marina hurled her phone onto the sofa.

Calvin had only just walked through the door when she pointed at him and issued an order. “Call the Warrior

Training Camp! Find out exactly where Autumn is hiding right this instant!”

Winter carried a fruit platter over to Marina’s side. “Mom, don’t let her get you upset. Autumn’s always loved

playing the brooding, mysterious type. She obviously failed to get into university and is too ashamed to come home, so she’s making up this Hyperion story to save face.”

April scoffed. “If she really earned an S-Class Wolf Trial ranking, I’ll hand over my brand-new phone to her.”

Summer nodded in agreement. “A school like that doesn’t only care about grades. Leadership matters most. Autumn can barely raise her voice at home-there’s no way the Alpha Academy would accept her.”

Calvin’s face darkened, and he dialed the lead supervisor of Silverbay Pack’s youth warrior camp.

Corin Vane, the pack’s Beta, oversaw youth combat training.

Calvin turned on speakerphone deliberately, so everyone could hear the truth come out.

“Mr. Vane, this is Autumn’s father. She hasn’t returned home these past few days and lied to us about getting

into Hyperion University. Could you check whether she’s staying with any classmates?”

“Mr. Grey?” Vane’s excited voice echoed from the speaker. “I was just about to reach out to you. Congratulations!”

“Autumn scored an S-Rank in her adult Wolf Trial. She placed first across Silverbay Park in tactical

command, coordinated combat, and crisis decision-making.”

“Hyperion University’s Alpha Leadership Academy awarded her a Full Laurel Scholarship. If she succeeds in

her studies, she will likely become a top candidate to become our pack’s next Alpha!”
