Spring, Summer, Winter, I Am The Forgotten Autumn Chapter 02

Spring, Summer, Winter, I Am The Forgotten Autumn Chapter 02

When I reached the living room, Marina and my three sisters filled every seat on the oversized sofa. No one had saved a seat for me.

As usual, I grabbed a throw pillow and settled on the carpet beside the table.

April scrolled through travel websites, her voice bright with excitement. “Let’s go to Frostriver City! Laurel Avenue’s lined with luxury boutiques—we can grab all our school supplies there.”

Summer shook her head. “I want to go to Aurora Bay. The night skies and ice fields make perfect photos. They’ll go viral on social media.”

Winter leaned her head against Marina’s shoulder and spoke softly. “Mom, I’d love to visit Mistbridge City. It has the ancient Luna Belltower, plus Hyperion University’s old campus. I’ve always wanted to see where the noble wolf packs of the North live.”

At the mention of Hyperion University, my pulse quickened.

I opened my mouth to speak, but Marina pinched Winter’s cheek before I could get a word out. “Alright, we’ll go where Winter wants. You’re our youngest treasure, after all.”

Our youngest treasure. The words twisted around my heart like thorns.

We were quadruplets, born only minutes apart. Hospital records proved I was the last one delivered, yet Marina insisted on ranking only three daughters.

April the eldest, Summer second, Winter the youngest baby sister. As for me, I might as well have never existed in the family order.

Caring for four infants at once must have overwhelmed her, so she instinctively erased the quiet one, the one who rarely cried.

My three sisters accepted her favoritism without question. Father let it happen too.

Over time, they truly believed only three daughters deserved their love.

Marina pulled up the flight booking page. “Let me check flights to Mistbridge City next month. Prices haven’t spiked for graduation season yet; we should book right now.”

“Make sure you buy six tickets,” I said, glancing at her screen. I felt I had to remind her.

I wasn’t being paranoid. In the Grey household, forgetting Autumn had become a cruel routine.

They’d locked me home during the amusement park trip. Only three outfits were ever purchased for the Luna Ritual. They’d abandoned me in that powerless villa at Grey Pine Lake.

This was a cross-territory trip. I refused to relive the agony of being stranded in a foreign city by my own family.

“Why are you rushing me?” Marina’s brow furrowed. “Do you think I’d forget you while booking tickets?”

April let out a scoff. “Do you really think everyone’s against you? You walk around acting like a victim nonstop. It’s exhausting.”

Summer tossed a cherry into her mouth. “She’s just jealous we’re excited. She always has to ruin the mood with something bleak.”

Winter stayed silent, leaning against our mother, a faint smile tugging at her lips.

I closed my mouth and stopped reminding them.

In the quiet depths of my mind, my wolf brushed gently against my mind, as if telling me not to pin hope on these people ever again.

I lowered my gaze and faded back into the shadows.

This would be the last time.
