When I woke up, it was almost noon.

The healer said it was just a fever.

She looked at Cyrus. Her voice went softer.

“But if I have to ask her about everything—”

“People will laugh at you.”

Cyrus frowned.

“No one said she’d keep managing this place.”

He turned to me.

“Write down the taboos of my mother and a few key allies.”

“Lila can follow the list. Then you won’t be bothered.”

I looked at him.

“My sister takes my place, and I still have to teach her how to be your Luna?”

“I just don’t want the household to fall into chaos.”

“Assets, authority, keys—I’ve handed them all over.”

I put the last territory authorization card on the table.

“As for your eating habits, those are for your mate to remember now.”

When I stood, my knee buckled.

Cyrus caught me.

I laughed once.

I turned and left.

I didn’t close the door right away.
