Silenced Omega Chapter 36

Silenced Omega Chapter 36

Preston finally collapsed, dropping to his knees and spitting up a mouthful of blood.

Camden leaned against a tree, his breathing growing heavier.

Laney glanced up at them, her expression unreadable.

“Laney…” Camden said with difficulty. “We—”

Laney cut him off.

“Don’t say my name.”

She looked at them, her lips forming silent words.

“Does the oath you just swore still count?”

Preston gave a bitter smile.

“It counts.”

“Good.”

Laney helped Archer to his feet.

“We’re leaving.”

Without a moment’s hesitation, she supported the badly injured Archer as they walked, step by step, into the depths of the forest.

Camden and Preston could only watch them go.

They wanted to follow, but they had no strength left.

Only then did they truly understand.

Some people, once you push them away, will never come back.

The jungle fell silent.

Only two Alphas remained, broken and alone.

Three days later, they arrived at New York’s underground black market: the Abyss.

The air was a foul mix of tobacco, blood, pheromone inhibitors, and cheap perfume.

This was where every forbidden transaction in the werewolf world took place.

Discarded Omegas, illegal pheromones, banned weapons, wanted lone wolves… everything that couldn’t see the light of day was traded here.

They had been on the run for two weeks.

Camden and Preston were searching for them like madmen, using every legal and illegal connection they had. The bounty on their heads kept climbing.

“There’s an underground auction tonight,” Archer said in a low voice. “We’ll blend in with the crowd and use the hidden passage to get out of the city.”

Laney nodded.

The auction was held in an abandoned air-raid shelter.

The lighting was dim and yellow, and all manner of unsavory characters filled the seats.

Archer found a spot in a dark corner and had Laney sit behind him.

Halfway through the auction, the host’s voice rose with excitement.

“Our next item is very special. A former young lady of a noble family, Genevieve Bennett.”

A large iron cage was pushed onto the stage.

A woman huddled inside.

Her clothes were in tatters. Her face was a mass of hideous scars, and her eyes were vacant.

Laney’s body went rigid.

Even with that ruined face, she recognized her.

It was Genevieve.

“The bidding starts at one hundred thousand dollars,” the host shouted. “No restrictions on her use, as long as you don’t kill her too quickly.”
