Silenced Omega Chapter 01

Silenced Omega Chapter 01

Laney’s werewolf husband, Camden Blackwood, had a split personality.

By day, he was cold. At night, he was gentle.

To treat his supposed illness, she bled out her pheromones every day, letting him drain her life drop by drop.

Until she overheard him with his friend, Preston.

“We’ve almost got enough pheromones. Genevieve can finally be saved.”

“Once the substitute’s done for, rip out her Omega gland. Throw her into the Abyss.”

Genevieve was Laney’s younger sister. The woman they both claimed to love.

Laney tried to run. Preston broke her leg. Camden sealed her throat with scorching hot silver.

The night she lost their child, they were still siphoning pheromones from her shattered gland.

All for a sister who was never even sick.

Later, when the truth came out, they begged her to come back.

But she couldn’t even be bothered to hate them.

The harder they groveled, the more disgusted she felt.

Night had fallen.

In the master bedroom, the only movement came from the fire in the hearth.

The silence was so heavy it felt like a weight on her chest.

Laney was curled on the bed, fresh gauze wrapped around her neck. A dark red stain seeped through the edge.

Camden raised a hand and stroked her face. His gaze was soft.

This was a side of him only she ever saw.

“You’ve suffered again, Laney,” he said, his voice low. “Without you, I don’t know how I’d survive this.”

Laney smiled faintly, her breath shallow.

“For you, it’s worth it.”

Five years ago, her life had collapsed.

Her father was imprisoned on fraud charges, and her mother’s heart condition flared up.

Her younger sister, Genevieve, had fallen into a coma after a car accident, her pheromones all but gone.

To save her family from ruin, she’d married Camden Blackwood.

The Blackwoods controlled the shadow capital of the thirteen North American wolf clans, and Camden was its youngest, most ruthless patriarch.

Outsiders called him cruel, a man who would do anything to get what he wanted.

But with her, he was a fragile Alpha who needed her pheromones to “stabilize his personality.”

“We’ll have to do another pheromone extraction tomorrow.”

Camden lowered his head and kissed her forehead.

For a moment, his Alpha pheromones—midnight sandalwood and cold steel—pressed down on her, a medicinal weight that made her drowsy.

“My ‘day self’ has been getting more unstable lately.”

Laney nodded, but her mind was racing, calculating the days.

Her heat was two weeks late.

The sudden nausea that morning had sparked a flicker of hope.

She might be pregnant.

With a pure-blood Alpha pup.

For an Omega like her, conceiving a top-tier Alpha’s child was practically unheard of. The possibility thrilled and terrified her in equal measure.

Every time the nurse drained her pheromones, she was left weak for three days.

If she was pregnant, another extraction could kill her.

“Camden,” she said softly.

“Can they take a little less tomorrow? I haven’t been feeling well.”

Camden looked at her. His golden-brown eyes froze for a fraction of a second before softening again.

“Where don’t you feel well?”

“I think I’m coming down with something,” Laney lied.

She wanted to be sure before she told him the news.

“We’ll see how you are tomorrow,” Camden said, his voice soothing. “I’m going to the study to take care of something. Get some sleep.”

The door clicked softly shut.

Laney lay on the bed for a while longer, the hope inside her swelling.

In the end, she couldn’t hold back.

She had to tell Camden now.

Even without proof, she wanted to say the words out loud.

The study door was ajar.

Camden’s voice drifted out, along with another she knew just as well.

Preston Doyle.

Camden’s best friend.

And Genevieve’s fiancé, in name at least.

Laney stopped just outside the door.

Camden’s voice was cold, as if he were a different person entirely.

“The pheromone antibodies are at ninety-seven percent. Two more extractions, at most, and they’ll be fully isolated.”

“Genevieve can finally be saved.” Preston let out a long breath. “You’ve worked hard this past year. Can’t have been easy, acting in front of that face every day.”

Laney’s hand froze in midair.

“It was nothing.” Camden’s laugh was short, devoid of warmth. “She was always just a substitute.”

“She has a face a little like Genevieve’s. Every time I see her, I’m reminded of what she did to Genevieve. Playing along is easy.”

Preston’s tone dripped with mockery.

“You played the part so well, I was starting to wonder if you’d actually developed feelings for her.”

“Don’t be disgusting.” Camden’s voice was laced with revulsion. “Every time I touch her, I feel like I need to scrub my skin raw.”

“If it weren’t for the antibodies in her Omega pheromones—the only thing that can counteract Genevieve’s pheromone deficiency—I wouldn’t even be able to look at her.”
