Silenced Omega Chapter 28

Silenced Omega Chapter 28

His eyes were red-rimmed.

“Laney’s body grew weaker and weaker from giving you her pheromones.”

“There were times she could barely stand. Why would you do this? Tell me.”

Genevieve saw the pain in his eyes.

But that pain wasn’t for her. It was for Laney.

The realization pierced her like a shard of glass.

She started to laugh.

It was a sharp, grating sound that tore through her carefully constructed facade.

“Why?” She threw off Camden’s hand and stood up straight, her eyes blazing with years of resentment. “Because I couldn’t stand it.”

Camden and Preston both froze.

“Ever since we were little, if Laney had something, I wanted it.”

Genevieve’s expression twisted. “Her toys, her clothes, her birthday presents…”

“But why were you two always so drawn to her?”

She pointed at Preston.

“You. An illegitimate child who couldn’t even show his face in polite society. If that idiot Laney hadn’t kept protecting you, you would have been ground into the dirt.”

“But the second she turned her back, you were following me around like a lost puppy.”

Preston’s face turned ashen.

Genevieve turned to Camden.

“And you. The heir to the Blackwood fortune. So high and mighty. But your eyes were always on her.”

“‘The only light’? How pathetic.”

“If I hadn’t made my move and pretended I was the one who saved you, would you have ever even looked at me?”

Camden stood rigid, as if turned to stone.

“There can only be one beloved daughter in the Bennett family.” Genevieve’s laughter grew more and more unhinged. “And that person is me. What is Laney?”

“She deserves to be nothing more than my shadow, my shield, my scapegoat.”

She saw the fury in their eyes and seemed to find a twisted satisfaction in it.

“You thought you were so clever? You were just pawns in my game.”

“An illegitimate son and a fool who couldn’t even remember who saved his life. You two deserve each other.”

She took a step forward, her voice dropping to a low, venomous hiss.

“Do you know what’s really funny?”

“At first, I didn’t care about either of you.”

“It was that fool Laney who kept telling me how wonderful you were, how special you were.”

“So I thought, if she values you so much, I might as well take you from her.”

“After all, ever since we were children, if I wanted something of hers, she would always give it to me in the end.”

Genevieve lifted her chin, a triumphant smile on her face.

“And she did it again.”

The room was terrifyingly quiet.

Preston stepped forward and slapped Genevieve hard across the face.

*Smack.*
