Silenced Omega Chapter 24

But the neurology consultation record stated that the brain CT showed no obvious injury. The cause of the coma was unknown.

The most recent record was for the supposed antibody treatment.

The head of hematology had written: Patient’s pheromone tests are normal. No clear basis for illness has been found. The so-called “pheromone deficiency” has no medical support.

The final report was the psychological trauma evaluation from three days ago.

The psychiatrist wrote that the patient’s fear response to the color red appeared overly deliberate and recommended a reevaluation.

Preston slammed his fist on the desk.

The wood cracked under the force of the blow.

Fake.

It was all fake.

Her poor health was fake.

Her need for Laney’s pheromones and antibodies was fake.

Even the psychological trauma she’d blamed on Laney was fake.

For years, he had believed one lie after another, and in doing so, he had driven the woman who had truly saved him, step by step, to her death.

He remembered the day he broke Laney’s leg, the look of utter despair in her eyes.

He remembered kicking her in the abdomen at the hospital, and how she had instinctively tried to protect her stomach.

He remembered the blood spreading across the floor.

He remembered her vacant stare after she miscarried.

“Ah!”

Preston roared, sweeping everything off the desk and sending it crashing against the wall.

Glass shattered. Papers scattered like fallen leaves.

The director cowered in a corner, too terrified to speak.

“Get everyone in here,” Preston snarled, his eyes red. “Every doctor and nurse who ever treated Genevieve. I want them all here. Now.”

Half an hour later, more than twenty people stood trembling in the conference room.

Preston sat at the head of the table, his gaze like a razor’s edge.

“I’ll only ask this once.” His voice was dangerously low. “Was Genevieve’s illness real or fake?”

No one dared to speak.

Preston drew a gun and pressed the barrel to the forehead of the doctor closest to him.

“Talk.”
