Silenced Omega Chapter 03

Silenced Omega Chapter 03

Laney took a step back, her back hitting the door.

“I didn’t hear anything. I just—”

“Stop lying.” Camden rose and started toward her.

This was the day-Camden.

Cold eyes, colder voice.

“It seems our obedient little substitute isn’t feeling so cooperative tonight.”

Preston stood as well, a faint, cruel smile on his face.

“You were using me,” Laney said, her voice breaking. “The whole time?”

“The split personality, needing my pheromones to stabilize you… it was all a lie?”

Camden reached her and gripped her chin, his fingers digging into her jaw. The pain was sharp and immediate.

“What else? Did you really think I could ever love the woman who destroyed Genevieve?”

“I didn’t hurt her!” Laney struggled, tears instantly springing to her eyes. “She’s my sister. I would never hurt her.”

Preston spoke, his voice like ice.

“You were the last person Genevieve saw before her accident.”

“The last text on her phone read, ‘My sister asked me to meet her. Says it’s urgent.’”

“Not long after, she was in a wreck and has been unconscious ever since. And you?”

“You climbed into Camden’s bed and married into the Blackwood family. Well played.”

“No… I never sent that message…” A horrifying realization dawned on her.

“It was you. You framed me.”

“Genevieve’s accident… you did that too, didn’t you?”

Camden’s grip tightened viciously.

Laney sucked in a sharp breath.

“At least you’re finally catching on.” He leaned in, his voice a low whisper in her ear.

“Your father’s company, your mother’s illness, Genevieve’s car accident. It was all for you.”

“Your pheromones contain the antibodies Genevieve needs.”

“But if we took them by force, your body would reject the process.”

“We needed you to be willing. We needed you to fall in love with me, to give yourself to me freely.”

“That night was my arrangement. So was this marriage.”

A chill washed over Laney, colder than any fear she’d ever known.

“So… you wanted me to hear that tonight?”

Camden looked down at her.

“The antibodies are almost ready. Your usefulness is about to expire.”

“I was going to let you live, but I’ve changed my mind,” Preston said, stepping forward. “You’re a flight risk.”

He lowered his gaze to her legs.

“Break her legs. Lock her in the basement.”

“We’ll figure out what to do with her when we’re done with her for good.”

Camden frowned.

“Preston, that’s enough.”

Preston shot him a look, his voice pure sarcasm.

“What, going soft on me? Don’t forget, she’s just the substitute.”

“When Genevieve wakes up and sees that face, a cheap copy of her own, how do you think she’ll feel?”

While they were talking, Laney shoved Camden away and lunged for the door, yanking at the handle.

It was locked.

“Looks like you still haven’t learned your place,” Camden said.
