“Dad said, “You were unconscious for ten whole days.” 

I froze. 

Only ten days? 

Thank God it had only been ten days. I couldn’t even bear to imagine it if my parents had gone through what I did, living through decades without me. We might never have seen each other again. 

I threw myself into their arms and finally let the tears fall. 

“I thought I’d never see you again.” 

Dad’s voice cracked with emotion. “It’s over now. 

Everything’s gonna be okay. You just focus on recovering. I’ll go make your favorite Baby Back Ribs.” 

Mom instantly smacked him on the arm. “The doctor literally just said she can’t eat greasy food yet, and you already forgot?” 

Dad slapped a hand to his forehead. “Right, right. Look at me. I just saw how skinny my little girl got and wanted to make her 

something good.” 

I held onto their hands tightly, my chest aching in a completely different way now. 

The people who truly loved me had been waiting for me all along. 

What I didn’t expect was that a year after I was discharged from the hospital, while I was lying in a lounge chair in the 

backyard soaking up the sun, the Arcane Pact suddenly appeared again. 

[Contractor, the villain completely spiraled after your 

departure from the Contracted Realm. The realm is now on the verge of collapse.] 

[His only wish is to see you one more time.] 

The voice was mechanical as always, but somehow I could still 

hear the guilt in it. 

Sure enough, before I could even respond, Killian suddenly appeared in front of me. 

The moment he saw me, his pupils contracted violently. His dark eyes lit up with overwhelming joy. 

He rushed toward me, trying to pull me into his arms, only for 

his body to pass straight through mine like a ghost. 

He froze. 

Pain flooded his face almost instantly. 

“Clara… you’re alive. I knew it. I knew you were alive.” 

I quietly let out a breath of relief. At least the Arcane Pact had enough decency not to drag me back. 

“You’ve seen me now,” I said coldly. “You can leave.” 

His expression stiffened. His eyes reddened as he looked at me 

almost pleadingly. 

“You still won’t forgive me, will you? I know I was wrong. I was completely out of line. What I did was unforgivable.” 

“Ever since we were kids, I knew we weren’t the same. You 

were always bright, confident, full of life. And me? I was just a 

rat hiding in the gutter. Sometimes getting a tiny bit of sunlight was enough to keep me alive.” 

“But actually trying to possess the sun… it only burns you.” 

“Hazel was like me. I thought I’d finally found someone who 

understood me. Someone who made me feel less pathetic 

standing next to you. But I forgot something.” 

“Without the sun… I die.” 

I stared at him with open disgust. 

“Killian, you’re not just selfish. You’re weak.” 

“You wanted me, but you wanted Hazel too. And in the end, 

you betrayed both of us.” 

“And this pathetic lovesick act you’re putting on right now? 

It’s disgusting.” 

His head snapped up toward me, eyes filled with disbelief. 

I knew exactly why he looked so shocked. 

I had always been gentle with him before. No matter what 

happened, I had never spoken to him this harshly. 

But love blinded people. 

Once I stopped loving him, I could finally see him clearly. 

“Just leave,” I said flatly. “I never want to see you again.” 

I turned and walked away without another glance. 

Behind me, Killian simply stood there, staring blankly at my cold, retreating figure. 

I didn’t know how long he remained there. 

Not long after, the Arcane Pact appeared again, almost excited as it delivered the news. 

Killian had completely abandoned his descent into darkness. He had personally killed Hazel and the child, then jumped from the rooftop himself. 

As for Killian and everything connected to him, I no longer cared. 

Seeing my lack of reaction, the Arcane Pact hurried to offer 

better news. 

The Contracted Realm had fully stabilized, and order had been 

restored. 

Which meant I had officially completed my mission. 

As a reward, the Arcane Pact immediately transferred ten 

million dollars to me. 

Naturally, I accepted without hesitation. 

Outside the window, the afternoon sunlight poured across the yard. 

My parents returned home from their shopping trip, laughing together as they walked up the driveway. 

Smiling, I got up and went to meet them.
