Blind Heiress Kissed The Mad Regent Chapter 01

Blind Heiress Kissed The Mad Regent Chapter 01

I’ve had terrible eyesight for as long as I can remember. The day I got back to Voss Estate, I walked in on my obsessive, unhinged father, Elias Voss, trying on a dress.

Marlowe Voss, the phony heiress who’d led me there, could barely hide her eagerness to see me silenced.

But I’d mistaken my father for one of the curvy maids. I grabbed his hand and gushed, “You have an incredible figure. That red dress looks stunning on you.”

My father had never been complimented like that in his entire life. He blushed, and his murderous intent evaporated on the spot.

The next day, Marlowe wasn’t giving up.

She led me down to the Basement Chamber, where I walked in on my mother, Seraphina Voss, elbow-deep in a dismembered body.

The stench of blood was suffocating and the scene was grotesque. She wanted me to scream so Mother would slit my throat.

I squinted, unable to make out the details, and assumed she was just butchering a pig.

I casually remarked, “Mother, that rope’s too thin. Use a thicker one or it won’t hold.”

My mother froze. Then her whole demeanor toward me flipped like a switch, she was suddenly warm.

After a few more incidents like that, both my parents decided I had inherited their iron nerves. Gold and gem treasures poured into my courtyard.

I didn’t really understand why, but I happily accepted every last piece.

Frustrated, Marlowe schemed to have me “accidentally” meet the terrifying Regent at the Gala Banquet.

She was certain that the moment I showed fear, he’d have me torn apart.

I couldn’t tell a person from an animal, so I mistook the white-haired Regent for a giant Samoyed and rushed over in delight.

“Oh my gosh, a fluffy puppy! You’re so adorable, let me give you a kiss!”

I planted a kiss right on Silas Thorne’s cheek and ran my fingers through his long white hair, babbling nonstop.

“Your fur’s all tangled. Nobody’s taking care of you, you poor baby. You should just come home with me, I’ll brush you every day and give you all the treats you want.”

A deathly silence fell over the crowd. Every guest stared at me like I’d lost my mind.

Even my fearless mother stood frozen, her face pale with horror.

“Elara, have you lost your mind? Get back here!” she cried, but her feet stayed rooted to the floor. She didn’t dare take a single step closer.

Everyone in the Royal Capital City knew the story.

Seven years ago, Regent Silas Thorne was trapped in a fire that left his face hideously scarred, and then an enemy poisoned him, turning his hair white overnight.

After that, he became vicious and bloodthirsty. He despised anyone getting close or staring at him. The bodies dragged out of his chambers over the years could’ve piled up into small mountains.

Everyone was convinced my reckless behavior would get me butchered into mincemeat. Marlowe could barely contain her glee. The rest of the crowd just braced for something bloody.

I was completely oblivious to the tension. I touched the “Samoyed’s” clothes and let out a disappointed sigh. He was dressed way too nicely, someone was clearly taking great care of him. No way I could steal him away.

But then I thought, a chance to love on such a cute dog was too good to waste. I leaned in and planted two more kisses.

The sudden softness jolted Silas.

He instinctively grabbed my back to steady me, pulling me closer.

I froze. Since when do dogs have human hands? I rubbed my blurry, practically useless eyes and finally saw the truth. That wasn’t a giant dog. It was a tall, sharply dressed man radiating authority.

Panic hit me and I scrambled to get off him.

The moment I moved, Silas caught my chin, his voice low and rough. “What’s the matter? You scared of me?”

His face drew closer. The fire had left twisted scars crawling from the corner of his eye down to his jaw, and his gaze was chillingly dark.

I stared at his face, my heart stuttering to a halt.

Before I could utter a word, Marlowe rushed forward, weeping and begging. “Please, Your Highness, have mercy on my sister! She just got back to the Capital, she doesn’t know any better. Your face caught her off guard, she didn’t mean anything by it.”

Her plea sounded like mercy, but it was really driving home the point that I found Silas repulsive.

His killing intent surged. His hand clamped around my throat and started to tighten.

Just as his grip was about to crush me, I cupped his face in both hands, pure awe in my voice.

“Did you just fall out of heaven or something? You’re gorgeous.”
